Title: I had an odd hypothetical question...
Post by: Firelight on February 05, 2009, 05:16:01 AM
Suppose you have a girl that's a post-operative transsexual. She's gotten her legal identity - including license and birth certificate - to indicate that she is indeed female.

Now, suppose she wanted to try out for competitive sports... would she be permitted to compete as a woman? It was just a question that sort of popped into my head recently...  :D

Here's a link you may find interesting:

As far as the Olympics are concerned, it pretty much answers that question, and the answer seems to be yes, but according to certain conditions.

Wow, that is a VERY fascinating read. Thanks a lot! It certainly raised several of the questions I had been considering regarding the issue myself. And while it's not conclusive by any means, it does seem to offer the most accurate perspective on the situation. 8)
