Title: I want to tell my brother

Lately I've been really considering telling my brother how I'm trans. I love my brother and I feel like he's the only family member I can tell mostly anything to. But in the recent years he seems like he doesn't want to talk to anyone (including me) on a level of serious conversations anymore. We never talk to each other about our lives or anything like that. I wouldn't find anything wrong with that but if I can't talk to my brother then...there's no other family member to talk to. My parents are unaccepting of gays and transgenders but my brother doesn't seem so closed minded. I told him a year ago that I was bi and he said he's fine with it. I think he knows I'm trans though..I've told him about the websites I visit and whatnot but I haven't officially "told him" yet. I don't know...is it worth telling a family member that "might" accept you?

Hi Vexen is it worth telling a family member(s), in one word yes, if they accept you that's another thing altogether however you will never know unless you try. I agonized for months about telling my 89 year old stepfather due to ME not thinking he would accept due to his age and being pretty religious, but guess what he suprised me by accepting me and saying life is to short and to do what makes me happy.
Paula.
Paula.

I'm thinking it might be worth telling him even if he doesn't accept me so at least he'll know about this. I don't expect anything horrible to happen if I tell him. The worst case scenario is he'll say "You can't be a real man since you weren't born one" or something. That would hurt pretty bad but I'd get over it. I think I might tell him but I don't know if he'll even listen. I can try though..
That's cool what happened when you came out to your stepfather, Paula. People can actually be surprising at times and not always in bad ways
