Title: Turn that s*** up
Post by: Sophie90 on February 12, 2009, 02:20:47 AM
I dislike confrontation.

I especially dislike confrontation with drunken moronic students.

I especially dislike confrontation with drunken moronic students that I have to live with.

I think about 8 out of 11 of the last nights, the guy in the room next to me has gone out and had his stupid friends back there afterwards for shouting, giggling, kitchen obliterating, etc.

I was woken at about 2am last night. After being super angry for 45 minutes to an hour, I dozed off, woke again after 4 and they were still going.

So, GOOD MORNING! Super-loud Rage Against The Machine from me since 7:30.

I think next time this happens, I will get up at 6am.

And turn it up to 100.

I know I'm breeding resentment, but I didn't start it.

I'm such a winner.  :D

Ah yes, stereo wars.  You might try something other than Rage though, go with the Gyuto monks really loud, that ought to wake up the dead.

Buy a tarantula and accidentally release it into their room.

Oh my Leiandra, that was probably the most sadistic idea I've ever heard you say ;), I like it >:-)

You might also try Javanese Gamelan music.

Well... then you could say that the noise and general disturbance made you jumpy and you dropped it's cage... and you certainly hope it doesn't happen again when that spitting cobra is delivered next week, because that would be... unfortunate.

Coming up to 4, he's been watching a film, and has now gone to bed.

Well guess what? I feel like listening to Avenged Sevenfold.

Yes, this loud.

Yes, all the way through.

It's worth depriving myself sleep as long as I'm depriving him.

Forget the music. He's probably one of those ->-bleeped-<-s who doesn't care.

Take up carpentry.

Maybe so, but I'm immature, competitive and vindictive, so...

Hehe perhaps I should get a drumkit. I do kinda want to learn.

While you're at it, get hold of a powerdrill and a few shelves that need putting up (preferably ones that need the added assistance of a very large hammer). He might not care about the noise, but I'm pretty sure the plaster falling off his walls from the vibration might be an irritation.

I personally would play Do you really want to hurt me Culture Club EXTREMLY loud! over, over, over again.

Leiandra, you and I think too much alike in some ways  When my neighbor gets out of hand yelling at his TV or what ever, (plus he stomps on the floor and shakes the building) I pull out the power tools and get busy with a project. All that sawing, drilling and hammering works wonders. Of course I have to put on some loud music to go with it all.

Just an idea :D

Or instead of just rock, you could throw in a thumping R&B or rap song to rattle up their room (given you have powerful speakers).

And the drum kit....make sure you have a double bass hit XD

Also....get a table saw too for a supposed woodworking project >:-), those things make ridiculous noise in a closed space ;)

My neighbours were getting to me for a whole year and then I came up with the solution..Korn...the Band...This was good and rather effective in telling them to shut up. I did my time. Then I got Sepultura roots and put it on awhich has a revolver going off in one of the later songs....
I threw th CD into my Sony stereo and Blasted them....Also STAR WARS really loud annoys people and they dont know what to think!

I am so guilty of this, or at least used to be.  Now I use headphones a lot, but that's just because I get embarassed about the music I listen to.  And I live in a place with a landlord as opposed to a dorm room.

But when there are few consequences aside from angry neighbors, I will blast it 24/7.  I want to feel music as much as hear it.

I hear you on that. I have a very broad taste in music and I like to play it loud... it's going to suck when I'm in an apartment.

*chuckles* It's certainly amusing to read the 'malicious' posts in this thread though.

Do you have thin walls. If so Id consider moving. I had thin walls in a place with a couple of gay guys next to me and believe me hearing them have sex was kinda weird for me. Drunken men having sex in a room next door is kind of yucky. But thats just how I feel..
I tried putting a matress up against hte wall and it helped absorb the sound a bit.
Maybe you could sound proof your house a bit with egg cartons or something ..It's something us musicians do to avoid the POlice being called when we practice.

Eh, fairly thin walls...

I'm only here until June and I'm not going to get anywhere better, so moving would be a drastic step.

I've never heard him get laid though lol, I suppose he might just be quiet.

Why am I not surprised? ;)

Drums are good, and anything that involves hammers, drills, and circular saws early in the morning.

For recorded music, loud hip-hop is good, but here's the key: make sure you have BIG subwoofers, and make sure the CD is scratched a few tracks in, and leave it on when you go out. (I knew someone who lived upstairs from some guys on the football team who used to do this.)

Hmmmm.....I was thinking some soundtracks from really annoying musicals (like High School Musical or Hairspray). Or you could play "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago, it's about a bunch of murderesses in prison who killed off husbands/boyfriends for whatever reason. If you want to see it as a potential solution, here ya go:

Cell Block Tango from "Chicago" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoCZEmfnE-M#lq-lq2-hq)

But nevermind my sadistic humor. Good luck!  :P
