Still struggling with things on my end. As it's hard to find anyone to listen. I can't seem to get my doctor to get me into therapy fast enough.. any advice would be much obliged.

Hey, don't know why no one else responded, but... just go on the ftm forums, and ask whatever questions you might have. There's a lot of info on the wiki page on this site, too, and if you haven't check it out yet, Hudson's FtM resource pages are incredible. Just google Hudson Ftm... I'm not sure what the exact web address is.

Most of the guys on here are pretty helpful... I'm ftm myself, and I'd be glad to answer anything I can for you. If you want to talk, or even just rant, ever, you'll find my yahoo messenger ID on my profile.

okay, I just checked on that messenger thing... apparently, if you just click on the smiley face that's under my pic on any of my posts, it'll give you the option to add on messenger.

It really depends on where you live, dude.

I'm from Canada as well, Ontario to be specific, and I had a hard time finding someone who wasn't in Toronto to take me in.

Definately live in Ontario too. Not sure if my doctor will go on with it. He's only been out of school for a few years.

Ashton, Ontario is rather large. Are you in a city like Ottawa/Toronto or a smaller town, say Harriston or Prescott? but that said, most of the major cities should have some resources. I do think that if  your doctor is relatively new out of university odds might be in your favour as he/she would be more likely to have been informed about trans issues than someone who graduated 30 years ago. Additionally, contact your local LGBT chapter, if you have one, to see if they have a list of doctors that are trans-friendly. You should also check with them to see what's available insofar as resources. Local universities or colleges can be helpful as they will often has LGBTQ groups and may be able to help in finding resources.

Lastly, have you asked your doctor as to why he/she doesn't want you on T yet? Is it a question of labs? or of ensuring that you realize everything that's involved? Are you young? (I've noticed some ageism going on)

Well, I live in Peterborough. And unfortunately my family doctor is in Orilla. He was cool about it to begin with, but then decided to go on about procedures and the like. That I'd need a psyciatric assessment before I can get back on the T he was giving me. That only lasted 3 months though. So not sure. And thanks for the help. I'll be looking into this more, and using the advice to get me along.

Ah.. that'd be OHIPs requirement then. From my understanding (talking with a friend who's transitioning in Hamilton) OHIP is setting guidelines for what is covered and how it will be covered. I suspect they are doing it easier with MTFs and those located in Toronto. It's those outside of Toronto and FTMs that will probably have a few more hoops to get through. Hang in there and go through the motions. You'll be back on T and probably have surgery scheduled before you know it.

Good to know. OHIP rocks for that lol. I'm booking an appointment soon to speak with my doctor on a trip back home, hopefully I can get in to see him. Can't get a doctor out here, waiting list is lik, 5yrs and then some.
