Title: Now it's my turn

Almost 58 years waiting to correct the birth defect will come to an end on 3/23/09. Brassard will do the surgery. What's funny is it's exactly nine months after the date I originally scheduled. Maybe I got pregnant the last time I was there?
I'm not sure how I feel. It' s too soon to tell. I just called today to place the deposit and I don't think it's sunk in yet. I'm expecting tears of joy when it does.

It wasn't real for me until I laid down on the operating table. One of the nurses went to lay my arms up (during top surgery you resemble the letter T) and I shot her a terrified look and asked her to not strap me down 'til I was asleep. come to think of it, i'm not sure I got that entire sentence out before I passed out. :)

Julie, Congratulations
It is a very big step toward the rest of your life that will make you complete. There are just no words that can explain the happiness I have for you. If I made it through I know you can. I am the most squimish person I know. I am one year and four months now, and no problems. You will be just fine. Enjoy the new you, and remember always be you.

I'm sort of happy and sad at the same time... :-\
I know it means a lot to you... ;)
...but I really don't see you hanging around here much after the end of June, to keep asking me those awkward questions as you do....
Julie accept it,...you were never transexual.....'just' a woman...!

WOW! Thank you all for the support! The last two days have had my head in a spin but reading your kind words has slowed the spin.
I guess when you've done a phenomenal job convincing yourself you'll never fulfill a lifelong dream and suddenly it's about to happen there's an element of disbelief. I'm one of those people for whom it takes a while for believing the unbelievable to sink in.
I just wish I didn't know so much about what I'm going to experience after the surgery and while recovering there. For every step verbally explained I have a vivid image from my memory to go along with it. TMI!!!
Maybe I can hypnotize myself into a state of ignorant bliss and believe the V fairy is coming to visit. Don't I wish! ::)
And Chrissty, don't worry. I'll be more than happy to stick around and throw out all the awkward questions you want. ;D

YEAH!!! A Big Congrats to you Julie. BTW, From a port op standpoint SRS is LESS painfull then a BA and far less then FFA (so I hear anyway). Gee, after your other surgerys, this will be a cakewalk.
So are you packed yet!!. It's only a month away after all. ;-)
