Title: DISC Personality Test
Post by: Melissa on August 15, 2006, 11:40:25 AM
The test can be taken for free at http://www.dwassoc.com/disc/ (http://www.dwassoc.com/disc/).

One thing I have been told is that as I've transitioned, my personality has changed.  I didn't realize how much it has changed until I just took this test.  I had taken it prior to transition and received different results than I did now.  This is a standardized test and most places charge a fee to take it, but here's a free version.  I am the one who actually did the programming at the last company I worked for and I had kind of forgotten about the test until today.  Have fun.

I have had to take that test a couple of times at different places I worked.  It is so easy to minipulate that it is silly.

I knew the personality type the president of the company liked (I was one of 3 vice presidents) and purposely faked the test to come out how he wanted.

Yes, but if you want true results, you answer honestly.  I just posted this so people could know for their own knowledge, rather than anything else.  I'll tell you that in the results, where it says what people expect you to be is based on what you select for "Most" and the one that says what you really are is based on what you select for "Least".  The second one is much harder to manipulate.

I'm a S: Steady Specialists first and
a S/C: Steady Competent Types second  :)

The personality type you feel you are expected to be by other people:

S: Steady Specialists

"S"s are stable and shy types. They do not like changes. They enjoy pleasing people and can consistently do the same job. Secure, non-threatening surroundings are important to them. They make the best friends because they are forgiving. Other people sometimes take advantage of them. They need to be stronger and learn how to say "No" to a friend who wants them to do wrong. Talking in front of large crowds is difficult for them. They are motivated by sweet and sincere opportunities to help others.

and

The personality type you really are:

S/C: Steady Competent Types

"S/C" Types are stable and contemplative types. They like to search and discover facts. They like to weigh the evidence and proceed slowly to a logical conclusion. They enjoy small groups of people. They do not like speaking in front of large crowds. They are systematic and sensitive to the needs of others, but can be critical and caustic. They are loyal friends, but can be too fault-finding. They need to improve their enthusiasm and optimism. They are motivated by kind and conscientious opportunities to slowly and correctly do things.

Nice test, Thank you Melissa ;)

Humm ! very interesting !
I too am a S:
but with a Mid line something or other !
"Above Mid-Line Blend
Some patterns indicate unique struggles and individual may be having. An Above Mid-Line Blend occurs when all four plotting points are above the mid-line. This may indicate a strong desire to overachieve."

what ever that means ...

but the real SCARY thing here is that people actually USE these things to make important desigons with , like hireing  and such ! ...

I remember when I was in Highschool so Many many years ago that I read that the SAT test and all the other real important tests that your given as a Kid are vurtually worthless because of the frame of refrence problem.... if You just had a fist fight with a person and take the test you will do terrable in every feild... if you just woke up you will probly do well....
so these things are actually good for one thing.... a couriousity...and nothing more
but unfortionately people use these  things as a tool and they should never be used as a tool because they are inacurate.
....
my 2 coppers !

When used as a tool for those decisions, they are generally not the part that carries the greatest weight.  That particular test had been used for the purpose of hiring decisions and it was given only a little weight as additional insight into the person and nothing more.  Don't blame the programmer though.

Oh Certainly Not Melissa ! the programmer cannot be held resopnceable for the programs use any more than the Gun manifactures missuse of a firearm.  though both can be harmfull if used incorrectly.
At one time I could program anything I had the amigination to program but sadly that is no longer the case. Now I just watch my Kid in amazement and try to figure out the thought path!  <GRIN>  if I can even keep up with that i figure i am doing real good ! HAHAHAH

For both:
QuoteC/S: Competent Specialists
"C/S"s tend to always be right. They like to do one thing at a time and do it right the first time. Their steady and stable approach to things makes them sensitive. They tend to be reserved and cautious. They are consistent and careful, but seldom take risks or try new things. They do not like speaking to large crowds, but will work hard behind the scenes to help groups stay on track. They are motivated by opportunities to serve others and do things correctly.

QuoteThe personality type you feel you are expected to be by other people:
Amusing thought that.

C/S is what I used to be.  Now I'm C/I/S, which I'm sure is a direct result of mentally transitioning.  I is the more intuitive part.

Okay, here we go, my test results...

QuoteThe personality type you feel you are expected to be by other people:
C/S: Competent Specialists
"C/S"s tend to always be right. They like to do one thing at a time and do it right the first time. Their steady and stable approach to things makes them sensitive. They tend to be reserved and cautious. They are consistent and careful, but seldom take risks or try new things. They do not like speaking to large crowds, but will work hard behind the scenes to help groups stay on track. They are motivated by opportunities to serve others and do things correctly.

The personality type you really are:
C/S/D: Competent Steady Doers
"C/S/D"s are a combination of cautious, stable and determined types. They are more task-oriented, but care about people on an individual basis. They don't like to speak in front of crowds. They prefer to get the job done and do it right through small groups, as opposed to large groups. They tend to be more serious. Often misunderstood by others as being insensitive, "C/S/D" types really care for people. They just don't show it openly. They need to be more positive and enthusiastic. Natural achievers, they need to be more friendly and less critical.

interesting....yep!  that's about 90% how I am.

D/I/C: Dominant Inspiring Cautious
"D/I/C"s are demanding, impressing and competent. They tend to be more task-oriented, but can be people-oriented before crowds. They need to increase their sensitivity and softness. They don't mind change. Active and outgoing, they are also compliant and cautious. They like to do things correctly, while driving and influencing others to follow. Their verbal skills combine with their determination and competence to achieve. Security is not as important as accomplishment and looking good

yeah, that's pretty much me.

I/C: Inspirational Competent
"I/C" Types are inspiring, yet cautious. They size up situations and comply with the rules in order to look good. They are good at figuring out ways to do things better through a lot of people. They can be too persuasive and too concerned about winning. They are often impatient and critical. They need to be more sensitive to individual feelings. They are often more concerned about what others think. They do not like breaking the rules; neither do they enjoy taking risks. They need to try new things and sometimes go against the crowd. They are careful communicators who think things through.

My results:

The personality type you really are:
C/I/S: Competent Influencing Specialists

"C/I/S"s like to do things right, impress others and stabilize situations. They are not aggressive or pushy people. They enjoy large and small crowds. They are good people and prefer quality. They are sensitive to what others think about them and their work. They need to be more determined and dominant. They can do things well, but are poor at quick decision-making. They are capable of doing great things through people, but need to be more self-motivated and assertive. They are stimulated by sincere, enthusiastic approval and logical explanations.

That does indeed sound like me!
