I am seeking information regarding exactely what kind of psychiatrist referral letter a surgeon needs in order for a surgeon to except and undertake surgery. For example would it might go something like this:

'This patient has completed more than 2 years RLT and complied with the all HBSOC criteria for gender re-assignment surgery'. I am happy to refer this patient for surgery'.

Also what GRS surgeon's are available within the U.K's NHS other than James Bellringer?

This kind of letter seems to be much better mine. My letter says that I have been diagnosed as TS. Surgery is recomended. No contra-indications. That is all.

I really suspect that my letter would not be good enough.

You couldn't see a surgeon with your letter and would not be excepted in the U.K. I'm not sure about thailand as their rules may be less strict.

In the U.K you need a recommendation that you have lived at least 2 years Real Life Test and that you have complied with all HBSOC criteria. i.e name change for at least 2 years and be working full time as a female.

My gendertherapist ''work'' was not write other kind of recomendations.

Exactly. I have been told it helps to get a referral from two doctors.

The answer to your question Naturally Blonde, I searched google and found Dr Christopher J Inglefield BSc FRCS does MTF surgery. Google his name and it will take you.

My gendertherapist wrote this recomendation after I asked internationally valid recomendation. What should I do?

In my opinion I would ask him to write a more detailed letter. As in my patient has been full time ** years and has been undergoing therapy for *** years.

Thanks for the info Jay. Christopher J Inglefield isn't one I've come across before. He isn't NHS and also it says he specialises in Cosmetic Surgery, For Face, Breast & Body...but no mention of Male to Female GRS though?

The statement above is generally all that a surgeon needs to move forward in North America, they don't need any long explanations as they are covered in the "Diagnosis" and they realize what the requirements are for therapy.  The fact that a properly qualified therapist saw the patient and was able to make a diagnosis is generally good enough.

The two letters I provided were just as brief.
