Title: Hi everyone!
Post by: imaz on February 18, 2009, 04:32:29 AM
Hi to you all, I'm new here from the UK but have spent over half my life in Italy, Africa and South East Asia.

Was diagnosed with gender issues at a very early age, was sent to a child psychologist by my mum!

BTW had a female name from birth, cause of much bullying at school...

Been married three times to all the "Abrahamic faiths" and in the correct chronological order! Still married to my best friend, a South East Asian lesbian.

Been on HRT since 1992 but not really into make up or feminine clothes. Most of my friend are lesbian, why I'm not sure, just feel more at ease with them when I think about it.

To be honest it took me a while to accept my transexuality even though I knew from early childhood. The hardest part was that there weren't any MTF's like me out there that I could see, everyone was on a big super femme trip that just wasn't me and therapists just couldn't accept or handle people like myself back in the day.

Sexuality? If I'm really honest I prefer lesbians and straight men, never been out with a TS yet.

Hope that's enough, a (((big hug))) to you all,

Imaz xxx

Hi Imaz and welcome

Many of my friends have been lesbians and/or bi-women. I'm not sure why either. Maybe it's my naturally fem. nature or because folks often think I'm a lesbian. They were always good friends to hang with none the less  I'm sure you'll make lots of friends here.

Will try my best to be always positive here despite being married to a psychologist ;D

Hi Imaz,   :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 1800 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion. Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers.  Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now.  And it is always nice to have another sister.   :icon_hug:

Thanks Wendy, Janet and Tink,  a (((big hug))) to you all.

Made a decision a few days ago that I'm going to face up to my demons (denial, deflection and self deception and of course plain laziness) for once and for all. Spent the whole night till morning chatting with my two best friends, one of whom I'm married to and we were totally honest with each other about our past traumas, sex and general weirdness.

Best conversation I've ever had, all of us from different ethnicities and continents but so close that we came out of it renewed, refreshed and liberated. Talking to intelligent people when one trusts each other implicitly is just amazing.

So today I was also truly open with my therapist for the first time, she's sex obsessed which has always inhibited me as I felt it was a little voyeuristic. Went well and I feel great, so happy I can't sleep! :)

Welcome to Susans, Imaz. I'm so happy that you are learning to accept who you are. It's wonderful that you have a partner to discuss it with. By your post here, I sense a feeling of relief and growing acceptance.

Thanks Genee, I'm very fortunate to have good friends who accept me probably more than I do myself.

It's a blessing but it took me many years to find them but then they came all at once. You are right, self acceptance and learning to love and respect oneself is essential irrespective of one's sexuality, gender, ethnicity or whatever.

It's hard but I try!

Imaz, it is probably the best decision you have made in your life. If one can't be comfortable in their own mind it makes everything else a neverending series of problems that will never be fully nor properly treated. You have taken your first large step of many and I wont sugar coat the fact that there will also be many painful ones as well, but the end result I think will make you complete and a much happier and contented individual

If at anytime you feel your Therapist isnt helping you, don't hesitate in finding one you can be comfortable with, this is your life and your transition. Hugs

Thanks Wendy :)

Don't think I was clear in what I said (as usual!). The facing up to things wasn't really about being TS or whatever one wants to call it. I've been on HRT since 1992 so it's a bit late for that! It was really about guilt, shame, denial and self denial. I don't like talking about gender issues as it embarrasses me as many Straight and Gay people don't understand those like myself that don't fall into what they perceive as the classic stereotypes.

I'm very fortunate or rather blessed to have wonderful friends including my dearest and closest of my life with whom I got married last year. We both needed to get married for different reasons...

My therapist is cool, she's used to dealing with trauma as she works mainly with victims of torture and refugees and she has my utmost respect for that.

Sometimes I find it hard to accept I'm female or male and head for neutral ground, not sure whether it's fear or how I am?

Welcome, Imaz!

You're definitely accepted here.  Many folks from the UK here at Susan's, so you'll feel right at home.  What you said about lesbians is actually true.  The two coolest gals I ever knew were lesbians!  I remember them fondly to this very day, and I knew them a long time ago.   We're glad to have you.

Hugs!

Thanks Lacey Lynne, life is good at the moment. Had a fantastic day yesterday with my greatest lesbian friends shopping for fetishy, sexy stuff for some club we're going to.

Things went very well ;)
