I absolutely love shopping at Hot Topic and Sanrio. They always have the cutest little things there, and don't even get me started on Hello Kitty! Probably somewhere near a half of everything I own has been Kitty-fied in one way or another. The one nice thing about Hot Topic is that I've always seen that they are very trans-friendly, especially seeing as how most of their clientele is pretty androgynous anyway (goths, punks, emo kids). :P For makeup, I love Sephora, although I usually don't have the money for it, so I just go to Walgreen's when I really need to add another color to my collection.

Thrift stores, mostly. Clothes are cheap and being on a limited budget, it is the only way to go.
If I could I would go to Kohl's. Makeup is Revlon, so it is anywhere.

So thrift stores huh? Something to keep in mind. Hot topic tho just a commercial outlet to profit off of alternative culture is still awesome.

I'm a real sucker for Goodwill and Salvation Army. (In case you don't have either in your area, they're charity-run thrift stores that sell donated goods.) They seem to have a high throughput rate, and I almost always find something that's actually interesting. To me, it feels really neat to wear something that's been around; it's like wearing history. (Assuming that that history doesn't show. I'm not into wearing dirty clothes!!) Given enough time, I always find what I'm looking for. Tonight, I found a beautiful, fitted, full-length winter coat for 7 USD. Too bad winter's almost over...
I've also had good luck with my dumpster, believe it or not. So few people are willing to do as much as peek, aside from bums, who usually aren't interested in nice furniture or pretty clothes. Before winter break, I found four or five large bags of clean (freshly-laundered) clothing (about a third of which fit), bedding (including a complete comforter-sheet-bedskirt set), several purses and an (empty) wallet, and kitchen supplies. I'm pretty sure that it was thrown away by a foreign-exchange student who couldn't take it all back home. What I kept was easily worth $100; my local Goodwill was *thrilled* when I dropped off the rest.
(Having no sense of shame feels really good.)

The other really nice things about charity shops is that they seem to have enough "weird people" that people with gender quirks aren't given funny looks.

I've got quite a lot from ebay.. well last year when I discovered it but not this year.. yet. And with my mother who enjoys going out shopping together.. just mall style mostly but we still find good practical/quality clothing. I must admit my mother does get a bit carried away at times and shouts out across the racks "what about this?". ::)
Also a few second hand boutiques and op shops.. but not as much as I'd like.. once I find work I'll be back out there. I ssooooo need (not want) new clothes! :S

Oh yeah, I'm totally down with the thrift shop deal and the free tables. One of my friends has a living room in his apartment that is 100% furnished with things that people put out on the curb - its a trip. My desk in my office is all thrift shop except for the electronics and the desk itself and people are always asking how I found all that stuff that went together like that.
And the clothes, well, its amazing what people put out in one way or another, I've found stuff in Goodwill with the Macy's tags still on it, it had never been worn, and like DKNY and other good design labels. Its crazy.

I've found some really cheap places online:
15dollarstore.com - mostly young people stuff but they have huge discounts
classicloseouts.com - stuff for all ages, not just clothing either. Really cheap.
target.com - they have a lot of stuff on clearance which ends up really cheap
You can also find really cheap stuff on amazon.com (which is where I found the above sites also).
At this point I refuse to buy anything that costs more than twenty dollars, because there's really no justification for things costing any more than that.

Wal-Mart (easy to try things on there) not much choice though, but good prices, J.C. Penney (the ads! lolol), Sears, for sure, lots and clots of clothes, actually anytime I am in a store and they have a women's clothing section!! lolol :D

So far, thrift stores, Target, and Payless Shoes. Torrid has somethings I'm drooling over, but I haven't gotten any yet (mainly due to that pesky thing called "money," hence the thrift stores).

I shop at soooo many places.. :-X :D I go from teenybopper stores to adultwoman stores to everything inbetween as long as I think something's cute for a good price..
Macy's
Wet Seal [teeny]
Charlotte Russe [teeny]
NY&Company and Express sometimes
Lord & Taylor sometimes
Piperlime [online shoes] They wrap your shoebox with tissue paper and make it look so pretty and fun to open!
Amazon [online everrrything!]
Target and Khol's for awesome deals
Delias and Alloy sometimes [teeny]
Victoria's Secret for jeans because their jeans actually fit me, and for bras, and sometimes for sweaters and such too. Would be for lots of other stuff [panties, lingerie, etc] too but they're just so expensive. :-\
Payless for shooooes!
I haven't actually bought anything from Zappos because I can usually find the same shoes for less somewhere else. Free shipping isn't all it's cracked up to be if the price itself is cheaper. I saw boots for $200+ on Zappos that were in the range of $130 on Amazon, for example.

Mostly Salvation Army and Saver's thrift store on dollar day. I've found some really nice outfits. Another option is to give a GG friend a lot of pizza. Then she gives the things that no longer fit.

Oh let's see...Cartier, Saks, Gucci, Tiffany & Co, Neiman Marcus.. ::) I wish! LOL ;D Seriously I like and practically live at Macy's, and sometimes I find awesome deals & styles at Walmart as well. I do shop at Nordstrom (the main and rack stores) from time to time, especially during their anniversary and half-yearly sales for instance. Their prices are greatly reduced during those times, and you can get something that originally costs $60 for $20...not bad at all!

Well I seem to have the best luck at Macy's, followed by J.C. Penney and Kohl's. I find Wal-Mart stuff just is made so crappy. I also like to stop in at cRoss Dress For Less. But my basic motto is: anywhere with a clearance rack!

Def. gotta go for the deals ;) I know I can't afford the reg. prices on allot of stuff  I found a good place to buy shoes online...onestopplus.com ;) Several shoppes with many styles in sizes up to 13 at good prices
And all kinds of clothes too
That onestopplus place seems a bit expensive as far as the shoes go, when compared to payless, which also has shoes up to and over 13... Maybe I'm just spoiled by all the budget stuff I find because anything over 40$ makes me cringe, and it has to be really really snazzy to make me spend more than 20$

Joe Browns for funky knitwear
charity shops (though i hardly ever buy)
I'm also cannibalising my old male wardrobe...shirts into blouses, t-shirts into dresses.

For when I need some girl jeans or something.. I go to the tried and true.. Good Will store!
The jeans are already broken in for ya, and are like 2 bucks! They also have some cute skirts and tops once or twice a year.
If you don't want to try them on, and they don't fit.. just donate them back to goodwill. You're only down 2-3 dollars and help maintain the cycle of giving!

If I have the money Kohl's, Goodman's, Rue 21, Target -I live one block away.
Like you Alex Marie, I get most of my jeans from Goodwill, most of my brand name jeans are from there.
I have found Daisy Fuentes, Sarah Jessica Parker, Vera Wang as well as other high end labels at Goodwill, you pay a little more then $2-$3 but far less then new.

I love looking in Church opportunity shops when I am travelling. Picked up an anorak for $13 and a watch for $4 at the weekend. You can generally also find lots of vintage jewellery too.
Other than that, Target, Bras 'n' Things for their fitting service, and a local boutique that has a lot of European lines. For shoes, Rosenberg's in Chapel St in Melbourne, and Wittners which both carry larger sizes.

Since a lot of people have mentioned various thrift shops, I'll add my $.02. The best advice I got when it comes to thrift shopping is to go to the stores in the more affluent parts of town. Even better befriend someone who works at one of those places and can tell you when the "good stuff" comes in. Plenty of those clothes may have only been worn once (dresses especially) to a social function before being donated. Anything else you're bound to find there will be better quality (and newer) anyways.
Incedentially, thrift shops have noted a general decrease in the quality of donated goods while the economy has slowed, of course with an increase in the clientel.

Consignment shops and goodwill!
You can find the widest selection and the best name brands if you take your time :-) I'm not really into armani though I get every label I can find, but I've gotta have my french designers such as older Vertigo and Cache pieces. I could never think to step inside a true Bebe store to spend what they ask, yet I've got a huge assortment of their clothes! All from resale shops!!!

Absolute favorite store, ever, will always be Burlington Coat Factory. It's cheap, they've got some awesome stuff, and I can actually manage to find things that fit me frequently. I love thrift stores too, but being as heavy as I am it's really rare I find anything that fits. I used to buy a lot of t-shirts offline, mainly from a shop called Angry Young and Poor (punk stuff) and SatansSideshow (bunch of different horror stuff). Unfortunately, I can't wear t-shirts anytime soon though.

But... what's the triangle? I know of Bermuda and little else. ;D

No, I'm pretty much a westerner through and through, but I went to college (my first time) in Baltimore. I'm happiest in the deserts, the mountains (except in winter), and at the ocean. The northeast and mid-Atlantic states always left me really depressed. I prefer the lands of big blue skies and sunshine that almost never quits. ;D
Except for right now... our weather these last 10 days can get :icon_pissed:'ed
But on topic, there's a local boutique here that's got some really cute hats I want to check out when I get a job. Not that I'll be able to afford them even then, but a girl can dream! There's actually a lot of really cute and cheap stuff at vintage clothing shops too. My favorite hat is about 100 years old and still looks gorgeous. It's laddish, but if I do my hair the right way, it looks very girly!
And it was only $5... ;D

(*ahem* Never mind the mess. I gutted my apartment to clean out years of crap I no longer need and am putting it all back together now)

I'm going to join many of the other posts. I love thrift stores. I've also bought about 70% of my things on ebay. Down side to ebay is you can't try anything on. the thing is if no one else bids on it you can get some real steals. I also like Macy's and Stein mart.
