Title: Milk. It does the body goooooooood.
Post by: JakeGrimm on March 16, 2009, 01:52:03 AM
I gots me a 32 FL OZ(1 qt/946 mL) of Nestle's Nesquik chocolate milk today, and it was enough to make me realize I'm addicted to chocolate milk. It's the only thing that can make me even a little hyper. Lol.

Sooo... i had to ask. What kind of milk do you like?

Not only am I lactose intolerant but I find the taste of milk disgusting. The only way I'll drink something that's mostly milk is if there's nesquik and hersheys (yes I need 2 chocolates or the flavor of the milk comes through) or nesquik and espresso. Iced mocha = love. :)

My mom is the same way. She's not intolerant, but she hates milk. she can only have it with cereal. My sister is intolerant, and refuses to even try to drink it. Lol.
hmm... nestle AND herseys... now that sounds really good. lol.

Oh it is good. Especially the way I make it. None of that 1 tablespoon of nesquik stuff. Mine has 3 tablespoons!

Basically when I consider milk to be drinkable it needs to get a nice dark chocolate color. :P

oh, I totally agree. I usually put four teaspoons before it's just right. lol. I've never thought of mixing nesquik with hersheys, though. I'ma have to try that soon as possible. lol.

I am a chocolate milk fiend.  Plain milk tastes like crap.  Chocolate milk tastes awesome.  And hot cocoa made with milk tastes super awesome.

Oh yeah and another way to have milk is neapolitan. You take some hersheys syrup, some strawberry syrup and then a drop of vanilla extract. It's actually really good. Like neapolitan icecream. :P

TamTam: lol, nice. ^.^ I agree on the plain milk. I dun really like it. Ocassionally, tolerate, but normally it's gotta have flavor.

Osiris: oooh, that sounds good, too! *wonders if we has any extract*

have you guys tried just mixing the chocolate and the strawberry? *drools* it's yummy. lol.

I mostly use milk when making an omelet. I do add cream to my coffee.

When I was young I was a chocolate milk fiend. But my tastes have changed

Too much milk gives me the runs now  :P

I'm vegan, so no cow/goat/camel/rabbit juice for me. Occasionally though I'll treat myself to some chocolate soy milk.

I was raised on 4% milk, but I've migrated to 1% milk.
It would probably taste pretty lame if you weren't used to it already.

I also like drinking low fat buttermilk sometimes, but they always seem to put salt in it.

I was raised on whole milk. We got directly from the dairy farmer. It had to be pasteurized by heating it then wait for the cream to rise and skim the cream off for other uses. Very good milk. The most nutitious mammal milk is whales milk. Probably tastes like plankton. Yuk! Now that I'm getting to be a cranky old "B"word, I'm becoming lactose intolerant. If there is to much milk in my diet the bathroom has to be near. Don't like flavored milk. Is it true that chocolate milk comes from brown cows?

A 16 0unce glass of 1% with lots of ice cubes.
Mixing Kahlua and more than a bit of Dark Rum adds to the experience, too.

milk weirds me out.
I'll use it for cooking and i love cheese and stuff, but drinking the milk from another species well beyond our infancy is sorta weird to me.

I LOVE MILK. Any flavor, but I tend to just stick with plain. I think it's a family thing; I have a cousin who drinks at least a gallon a day. I probably drank a half gallon a day before starting my current weight-loss strategy... now, despite my propensity for whole milk, I've switched to skim, and probably have about 32-48oz a day. I assume it's done wonders for my bones... I've only ever broken one, a small one in my foot, but my nails and hair grow at astounding rates. Suppose I'll never have to worry about osteoporosis.

At the start of 8th grade, I was 5'7" and 99 pounds. My doctor put me on a high-fat diet including extra rich milk and, get this, a milkshake every night after dinner. To me, that was the best damned prescription I ever had. By the end of 8th grade, I was 5'9" and 124 pounds. I'd gained 25 pounds in 8 months, but also grew 2 inches.

I love milk.  The more the merrier.  And If I could unpasteurized, unhomogenized, creme on the top.  But because of the cost, I use powered milk.  It really isn't bad, if you make it according to the directions, exactly.

"But because of the cost, I use powered milk. "

Funny you should mention powdered milk, Janet, as I was thinking about it at my first post in this thread. My mother raised me and my three siblings on the stuff. This was back through the late half of the sixties up to about '78. The only time "real" milk came into the house was for cooking, baking in particular.

I may just have to get some and try it again, if only for cost, rather than nostalgic reasons.

Plain ol' whole mik for me.

Half and half to cool down really hot coffee.

About half and half a few years ago I had my cholesterol level checked as part of a routine health exam, 30 yeah.

My level came back at 220+.

My PCP and I narrowed it down to the half and half.

Checking the back of the carton shows that each tablespoon is equilvilant to something close to 15%!!! of suggested daily intack.

Just a thought.

Hugs,
Michelle.

I have milk on cereal occasionally, but just can't stand to drink it.  But freeze it into ice cream, well that's another story!

I with Mina on this one. I did find an awesome vegan restaurant in Brooklyn called FoodSwings (off the J/Z line near the Marcy station). They make the best chocolate shakes I've ever had.

BREASTMILK! /shot

Does eggnog count as milk? It's aaaawesome.
All type of milk is insanely delicious to me, although at school I only like the chocolate and strawberry. The white/plain milk tastes like liquid sadness and death... maybe because I'm gradually getting used to skim milk due to a recommendation by my home ec teacher.

It's interesting that there are quite a few posts here by people who are, like me, lactose intolerant.

I can cope with one normal coffe a day if I have to, but that is my limit.  I just buy Lactose free milk by the carton. Locally it only comes as a Long-Life carton, so I can buy a few and they don't have to go in the fridge until needed. Also cheaper than fresh(normal) milk anyway.

All they do is break the Lactose molecule in two, giving Glucose and Galactose. Also makes it taste slightly sweeter.

Flavours? Too much mucking around, just down the hatch!

Karen.

100% with the bold

I can't stand how chocolate feels going down and scarcely appreciate its taste... so I can't stand chocolate milk even more than I can't stand milk. Ice cream is almost as bad as drinking the stuff. Don't like milk butter.

Single milk product I can stand: Cheese... and I can't stand much of it on anything that isn't pizza... which I prefer without cheese.

I'm also not too much into the soy or almond milks. Drinking them isn't quite as terrible as cow milk, but I have no love for the taste of milk at all (and the texture is only marginally better than cow milk). Water all the way for me.
