A respected police officer, Anthony Barreto-Neto, was run off the police force in Hardwick, Vt., by constant harassment from fellow officers after they learned he had been born a woman.
Jamie Rondeai of Lowell, Mass., was repeatedly beaten and called a "->-bleeped-<-got" just because she identified more with being a woman than she did a man.
Stories like these occur in New Hampshire too, and that is why state Rep. Ed Butler has filed a bill to protect transsexuals from discrimination.
The bill adds to laws barring discrimination on the basis of sex, age, race, creed, color, sexual orientation or religion the words "gender identity" or "gender expression."

I wonder when the Christian Right is ever going to learn that there have been trans people using the restrooms for a long time. If the bill never passes they still will be using the restrooms. What don't they understand. The bill is trying to protect our jobs and our rights. The only reason for bills like this is to spell it out to them, NO DISCRIMINATION-PERIOD.

Yeah, but if you get rid of all discrimination, who will they have to kick around?
Isn't that protected by the first amendment? Abuse and discrimination are simply their way of expressing themselves.
Especially the abuse and violence part.

There will always be discrimination but when it comes to your basic needs security, then there should be no discrimination. We will always have someone to kick around whether it be the democrats or republicans, liberals or conservatives or the religious people vs non religious. We all tend to kick someone around. Our basic needs should be out of bounds not in the discrimination game.
I could tell you how you could be out of a job just because you don't have a front tooth.
