Title: saw gastroenterologist today
Post by: sylvie on March 31, 2009, 11:20:49 PM
Well I finally saw a gastro specialist today.  She said that she believes that I have a fatty liver and if I continue exercising and dieting like I have been my liver should return to normal levels.  However that didn't stop her from taking ten vials of blood and scheduling me for an ultrasound on thursday.  She thought that would be a good idea seeing as hormones mess with the liver. She was very understanding of my goals and gave me some information to keep a lookout for when I start hormones.  So hopefully this time next week I will have the results back and be able to start HRT.  (Fingers crossed)

Sounds like she is just doing baseline to monitor you during HRT.  Keep up the good work towards HRT, Hon.

thanks Janet.  My results came in the mail today.  based on the utrasound I definately have a fatty liver.  The gastro specialist recommended that I see my pri doctor for a cholesterol screening but I think that I already had that done.  Don't know.  Now I'm worried about whether I can start HRT or not now.  I don't know how I will handle it if I am denied.  I have sacrificed my marriage and possibly my daughter just to be who I should've been at birth,  and then what if I can't?  :(

I am soooooo depressed right now and scared on top of that.  I don't know what to do.

She may put you on other medications as well as HRT.  I take Simvastatin for cholesterol.  And I was on Coumadin a while back because of plague in my veins.  Two surgeries have been done for the same thing.  But I am on HRT and have been for a year now.

Hang in there.  One step at a time.  When I started this I wanted it to be done next week, but it all takes time.  For me, I don't know if I will ever get where I want to go (physically and socially a woman), but I have to try.  Keep trying, and good luck.
