MFI launches new website to oppose trans rights bill

The Massachusetts Family Institute (MFI), which is leading the charge against the transgender rights bill on Beacon Hill, launched a new website this week as part of its effort to shift debate on the legislation by branding it as a "bathroom bill." The website, NoBathroomBill.com, features a video that shows a young girl entering a public restroom followed by a menacing man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses. The video ends with a message arguing that the bill, House Bill 1728, would allow sexual predators increased access to women's bathrooms and locker rooms and that it would pose a public safety threat to women and girls.

Gunner Scott, executive director of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition (MTPC), the lead organization in the coalition to pass H.B. 1728, said MFI is reframing the debate around the bill to focus on bathrooms as a covert way to appeal to anti-transgender bias among lawmakers and the public.
