The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HR 1913), which includes expansion of federal hate crimes law to include actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity, has cleared the House Judiciary Committee (again, as it has previously). (Wash Blade):
Committee members backed the bill, 15-12, following a second day of debate. The measure will next go to the House floor for a vote, something that Capitol Hill observers have said could occur as soon as next week.
