The above link is a spin-off from the thread about "It's Dangerous To Transition." I thought it would best be done as a separate topic.
I am curious as to what you think of this quiz. I scored 160, but realized I could have and still not pass. What does it help you understand? What do you see wrong with it?

I scored an even 100! That sounds about right, I probably pass to some but I need to temper it with reality. That's me, a perfect 100, woo hoo! Beat that! Meghan

I scored 108, but I 'blend in' 99% of the time. I do get clocked occasionally, but I live 100% of the time. The test seems in error somehow.
I think that it could lead some new people to the wrong conclusion.

Thanks, Meghan! I can't believe no one wants to take this test. Really, I think it was intended for fun, but maybe there is some validity to it.

Ugh, tests that make me track my own answers and do math seem so tedious :P.
But I did it anyway. I got 124, which is slightly annoying since 125 is the start of the next tier... but its all arbitrary anyway! Oh, and since I'm mostly pre-everything I basically filled it out how I think things will turn out (aka hormones for 2 years before going full time, passable female voice (I think I'm starting to figure out how to *start* doing that heh)).
I've basically come to the conclusion that there are basically 2 things that prevent me from passing at the moment, which are face and voice... and of course the most expensive/hardest to change.

Was reading other pages on that site and came across this:
"On average, when compared with genetic women, transsexual women:
* Have a similar degree and frequency of sexual desire. "
And of course I'm thinking, how exactly do they know how frequent that is? Is there a characteristic difference between 'normal' males and females in this regard? Or is that statement as vague and ambiguous as it seems at first glance?

I got a 121...been on hormones for a little over 3 weeks now, just E no AAs. When I put the effort in (since I'm not full time and I have to put some effort into passing) I pass pretty well. The voice thing is killer but that comes down to practice I guess. Anyway, its a fun quiz though I'm not sure how accurate it is.

Keeping in mind my base staring point, body type. Plus where I can be 6 months from now, hair, or lack thereof, and make-up. Add in say 6-12 mnths HRT.
I get an average score of 109. Lets say I get good boobies and hips from HRT add about 20 points... so 125-133.
I'm 33 but have always been mistaken for 5-7 yrs younger, in "mike" mode. Bio age wise I'm probably in my mid to late 20's.
About this little test... in my opinion it underestimates the "face" part of the score.
Also one could be double or even triple scoring points in regards to breasts... theres an HRT,BA, and padding options. Hair has the same quirk... natural and wig are subcatergories.
If so than I can possibly add 18 points for a future boob job, along with another 20 to boot for excellent HRT results to be. Than again Mamma says, "dont count your chickens till they've hatched."
Thanks for the break down Kristi.
Mich'
update... in real life from behind in public I have been mistaken for female and over the phone as well on occassion.

Theres a very tiny 'or' in between the breast options and hair options -- you're only supposed to use the score for one of them.
I think the age for starting transition is under-weighted -- I'm not saying older girls can't pass (because clearly they can), but more than almost anything else, starting young helps you pass, no way around it.

I'm really hesitant to see this test as valid... one of the things which strikes me is the lack of multipliers. In others words, certain things in combination help to amplify passability - for example, an ample bosom combined with a good waist /hips ratio and strong hips has more of an impact than any two of those working together.
I'd also say the gap between natural and "augmentation" on breasts and hair should likely be a wider gap. Natural breasts behave differently than surgical or padding alternatives and a good natural jiggle when you walk does have an impact on people's assessment. When people see that bounce, any questions they might have had seem to evaporate. In fact the solution might actually be to up the weighting for natural breasts.
The test would appear to be missing mannerisms... most of the transwomen I see outted, get outted more on behavior than appearance. If you act in a masculine manner, it is easier to be read.
Also height as a deciding factor? Hardly... It does not constitute a third of what people read... especially on anyone under 5' 10".
If I were to build total points breakouts for this:
Facial Features 50 pts
Bosom 35 points
Voice 35 points
Behavior 20 points
Age and Hormones 20 pts
Hair 20 pts
Physique 20 pts
Total 200 points
I'd also add negative modifiers outside the 200 point system for four items: Height over 6', Heavily Musculature, Beard Growth, and uncorrected Balding. Mainly because at their extremes, these are important... but IMO when you don't cross into the extreme they can be very irrelevant.

I got 132 points.
I barely understood the part when its asked: "Duration of hormone therapy prior to transition" It seems it means prior to fulltime transition as stated in the next question.
Its like LOL.

The quiz is not valid. Your build is not that important if you dress well. Your hair is not important if you have a realistic wig.
But the main flaw is that it does not consider some of the most important elements of passing: confidence, body language, mannerisms...

Any test that depends on self evaluation is going to have a fatal flaw. Tell you what, get three friends to do it for you in strict confidence and in a blind manner, and then get two total strangers to also do it as a control, and average those five scores.
Anyone wanna bet that that average is going to be lower by double digits then the self given score?
Any takers?

Hum, that was an interesting little quiz although I wouldn't give it a whole lot of weight. I also worry about what a quiz like that might make someone just starting out think; while the physical is important, attitude also plays a huge part in being able to pass.
Anyway, I got a 172 on the quiz...but then I transitioned when I was a teen...
Peace and love,

Lol, yeah, I'd definitely take you up on this. So three friends and two total strangers would average out to 90 or less...I don't think it would be quite that low, but I was brutally honest and judged myself as harshly as I think I'm seem so I don't think I'd get smacked by 10 points. One never knows though!

I'm a generally negative person, so I'm not going to take this test. It would be... discouraging... to say the least. I did glance over it a bit, though, and I don't need a test to tell me that my height/build/etc are going to be a problem. Yeah, I already know that. I don't need a test to tell me my positive attributes, either -- I'm fairly sure I have them figured out.
It may be intended in good fun, but it can be detrimental to those of us starting out with severe self-confidence issues. I can't possibly be the only one who feels that way. I feel strained for time and more for money, and as a single parent this is particularly difficult in a lot of other ways too -- I don't need a test to tell me that my age will become more and more of an issue as life slows down the process. I obviously already know that, and it hurts and it sucks but it's just how life can be, I suppose.
Sorry, I'm being grouchy today.

The above link is a spin-off from the thread about "It's Dangerous To Transition." I thought it would best be done as a separate topic.
What does it help you understand? What do you see wrong with it?
Hmmmm..........first, the title. I think more often, it's dangerous not to transition, if that's where your road leads you.
What does it help me understand?
I think it helps me understand that I got sucked into yet another "validate my female looks" Woman's Day-type quiz.
What do I see wrong with it?
Nuttin', honey......it's for the perpetual questioners.
Why do I get side-tracked and take these stupid quiz things, anyway?
Just For You! It's all your fault!
hahahaha...........
Bev
scored 130
(sigh....I swore I wouldn't tell............I'm hopeless)

I so need to get a make-over and some fashion going on.
My devious side is intriqued by the thought of posting on "hot or not."
It might also be time to start  or >:-).com

what a curious little quiz.
I'm not sure if the point values are 'perfect', but if you look at the 'test' as a checklist for self-improvement it could be a very valuable tool. Instead of giving yourself a number think of each area as a 'work in progress'
We all have things to improve and make more feminine or camouflage. I can't change my size but I can work on my feminine voice...I can't get laser (I'm blond), but I can stay smooth and look into electrolysis.
life is a journey...Always...Teree
