Title: Speedy Effects

Its been only 1 month and I can definitely feel these two knots behind the nipple area that are about an inch and a half across. That seems like its a lot faster than a lot of people say it should happen. There's nothing really noticeable visibly but I can definitely feel them. Is this a normal rate of development or do I just happen to have a large amount of human growth hormone still in my system? Being 21 I thought it would take longer than that but I'm not going to complain.

I'm quite a bit older than you, so my experience may not be the same. (Plus, we're different people. We all seem to go through this a bit differently.) I've been on hormones four weeks. Surprisingly, I notice a few changes. I can't tell if my breasts are starting, but the nipples are softer and stick out more. I also seem to be carrying a bit more weight in my lower abdomen even though I don't weigh any more. I haven't noticed any other changes.
The day I started hormones I took four pictures of myself without clothes - front, back, and each side. In two days I'll take another set. And I'll take another set each monthly anniversary until I lose interest in doing that, just to record the changes.
Although I haven't experienced the hard knot behind the nipples this time, I did experience them when going through puberty. I was delighted at the time because I thought it meant I was developing breasts and that meant my male stuff would fall off and then I'd be a girl. (I was terribly naïve. ::)) I'd be curious to learn what happens with your knots.
Isn't this a wonderful journey?

It's fairly normal. Most the literature documenting changes is based on late-in-life transitioners. Timing varies from person to person depending on where their body is at prior to hormones. If you're worried about it talk to your endo or GP.

I too felt some minor changes just after my first month on HRT. I didn't have knots behind the nipples but they defiantly became for firm and tender. no at 11 months I am about a 36B and they hurt like a mother!

After a year on HRT your going to look back and say, "I look like that?" its amazing how much one changes. Try to stay active, helps the fat distribution to more feminine positions.

I think the 'knot' feeling differs even among genetic females. I can't recall any pain, 'knots', or any physical feelings of them growing during puberty. Just a visual experience for me. I looked down and was not happy.

Maybe knot was the wrong word to use. Its more like hard bits of tissue. They were really tender for a week then the stuff grew really fast. I hope the speedy growth is a continuing trend.

In my experience the fast growth lasted for a while... even once that was done - there's still steady slow growth which continues to happen for quite some time after.
How the growth occurs seems to vary from person to person. For me, things grew out before filling in. My best friend grew more evenly - her breasts filled in as they grew.

I always thought those were the milk ducts. I could first feel them after about a week on HRT. Now after about 10 months I can't really feel them anymore although there were periods where I could. It might only occur if you are on a progesterone since that is the hormone present in women during pregnancy. I have read that a progesterone helps with nipple development.
I'm only nearing an A now, but I am also rather skinny. If I end up with a B size I will be thrilled. In any case though, I would much rather have pretty breasts over large ones and so far I am very happy with their evenness and overall appearance. I saw some pictures of some older transsexuals breasts when I was considering transition, and it kind of scared me. I was terrified of getting some weird looking things.

I got the first nipple tenderness at about 2 weeks, the beginning of the "knots" started at about that time too. Now at just about 9 weeks I can pretty much fill an A cup, and the tenderness/soreness has not let up at all. It does seem worse at some times than others though. I'm fairly slender too for my height. I'm getting more development "behind" and some increase in nipple and areola size, but not what I would like yet. I'm hoping that will increase as the breast size increases. My mom and sister are both at least D cups, if not DD, so i'm not sure what to expect in the long term.

So its been nearly 5 weeks now. They're up to about knots are about 2 inches across which is pretty good growth. I'm not the most slender of people they're hard to see beyond my pectorals and the layer of fat that sits on top. Here's hoping I'll be able to fill an A/B by the end of the summer.

I'm at 5 weeks, too. I can tell there is a little growth, but they certainly aren't visible with clothes on. The nipples and aerolas are larger and a bit tender but not too bad yet.
So, as they grow do you decrease the size of the forms you wear?
I've noticed my belly is rounder, unfortunately. I'm slender and am the lightest I've been in many years, but I now have a more round little belly. Nothing noticeable on the hips or butt yet. Patience. :P

I was a bit surprised at my bust development in the first 2 months, and I was 29 at the time. Sadly, I hit rock bottom and had to stop HRT at around 6 months in. I have no idea what it will be like to go back on hormones after ten years without... ^_^;

i'm 37 and have been on HRT for 4 weeks now. I too noticed the 2 inch long knots around the second week in as well as my nipples being VERY VERY sensitive. All it takes now is for a slight breeze and hello there they are. :) Over the last week I have noticed that the shape of my chest has started to change slightly as well. Tomorrow I go in to see my doctor for a 30 day checkup to see how I am progressing.
I have to say though that I am definately enjoying all of the new experiences and changes

After roughly a month it felt as though there was a small stack of communion wafers under each nipple.
This is fairly common for biogirls as well as trans.

Quote from: K8So, as they grow do you decrease the size of the forms you wear?I'm not yet an A cup after 7 months HRT but just had to deal with this myself.
Although I'm large-framed and 6 foot, I chose forms that made me a good C size - I feel that an over-large bustline CAN make some people look more drag-queenish and/or raise more suspicion that they are falsies.
My development had started to push my forms out beyond my comfort zone so I abandoned them and now use these breast enhancers h**p://www.thebreastformstore.co.uk/clear-breast-enhancers.aspx
which are available in two sizes. I bought a pair of each size, figuring that I could use both large and small together, then large alone, then small alone as I (hopefully) continue to develop.
Overall, a flexible solution that is very cheap indeed and has worked well for me so far in that even with two per cup, they feel fine under clothes and I did not even have to (semi-permanently) glue them together as I had supposed might be necessary - though that will much depend on the bra you use.

It depends on the person. Some people feel it before others, and some people grow more than others and can grow for a long time after. 3 years into HRT my breasts really hurt badly, still, and are still growing! Yet, I know people who haven't much growth after two years. *shrugs* genetics, age, and a bunch of other factors come into play. And, believe it or not, I've seen in some cases where younger doesn't always mean faster or bigger breasts -- I've seen the opposite in some cases! Weight and breast size can also come into play, I know bigger women on HRT seem to get pretty big breasts sometimes, and really skinny women don't get that much.
Anyway, congrats on your new growths.

Hi, Maddie,
I started HRT when I was 51 years old and I had breast buds within the first six weeks. The effects of estrogen in HRT can be quite individualized.

I was 54 when I started HRT, I am now 63. I had those lumps of tissue under my nipples like some of you describe after four weeks on HRT. It took four years of slow gradual growth to have 36B cups which I am happy with because it is closely enough proportional to my 5'3" 125lbs body size, even got hip distribution from the deal.

This provokes a bit of curiosity on my part:
I know that it is true that fat cells do not go away when you diet, just shrink.
I assume that HRT stimulates those same cells in a female pattern instead of a male one
if the former is true...the fact that I have been badly overweight and have "moobs" means there will still be fat cells aplenty there even after I lose the excess weight...
soooo....
Would that imply I'll have better breast growth on HRT because there is so much "raw material" to work with?
(genetics aside, I have netiehr dramatic good news or bad on that front)
