Hey guys,
So ive been on T for just over 4weeks now and i was curious as to whether i should have felt any changes, even miniscule ones? Nothing has happened, well, besides my voice breaking pretty bad the other day. Other than that nothing....I thought i would experience other things before the voice started playing up. Is this normal? I know everyone reacts differentl and there is no set time frame but from reading around and doing research most ppl experienced things.
Anyways, just wanted to get ur opinions.
Cheers,
Joshua

Well, I've been on T for about the same amount of time, (4 weeks last Tuesday) and the only changes I've encountered have been pretty subtle. My voice has been slightly different - but not so far out that most people would probably notice. Just ever so slightly hoarse, and tending to stay on the lower side of my usual range. I sort of sound as if I have morning voice all day now. I think I'm getting a little more muscular, and that my weight is starting to shift, but I couldn't swear to it. I seem be confusing people more, gender-wise, but I think that has more to do with confidence and how I'm carrying myself, now that I'm "really" transitioning. I feel more mellow most of the time than I used to, but when I do get annoyed I find it harder to hold my tongue. I've also been feeling slightly more mischievous, but again, that could be a psychological effect of knowing that I'm on T, rather than a direct effect of the T. There have been some subtle sexual changes. A slight shift in the way I view sex. Orgasms are more intense, but not as deeply fulfilling. (Sorry, is that TMI? :D) Maybe I should stop now...

Thats pretty cool ur 4weeks is from last tuesday, mine is from last wednesday. I just started a day later. Lol, definitly not too much information. Actually, about the sex, thats the one i thought would be the most noticeable once on T. I thought my drive would increase as such but it didnt...It all seems the same. Orgasms havnt changed. After reading about your changes, little alarm bells have been going off in my head. I must say that i find it harder to hold my tongue whne me ppl irritate and annoy me now. A tad more impatient.
Ppl definitly read me more as male. When im walking towards a disabled bathroom the cleaners (speaking in cantonese) point me towards the male bathroom :) that always makes me feel good.
I'll be transitioning at work in 2months time, and the thought of it really increase your confidence. Great feeling huh.
Cheers for that Jamie-O

It takes a lot longer for the changes that others notice, but voice is one of the first that you'll notice. Then horniness. Muscle development, if you're working out, will show reasonably quickly. Facial hair differs madly (I took three years to grow a goatee, but others are a lot faster). Fat distribution is also slow, except on the face, I found. My face slimmed down really fast. Rest took years.

Nothing to worry about, guys. My voice crackled and was rough for about a month, then around the 1 1/2 or 2 month mark it just dropped. It's still dropping now, 11 months in, still refining. First thing I noticed on T was my facial hair thickening and coming in in more places. By the 3rd month, I had good sideburns, and the hair on my chin and upper lip was a lot thicker... it took until month 4 for it to come in almost throughout my face. However, everything takes time. I'm still waiting for my beard to connect to my mustache lol... it just keeps inching toward it, but isn't quite there yet.
Sex drive, in my experience, refines itself as well. I've been on and off T twice, am back on for the 3rd time now, and noticed that my sex drive went way up within 2 weeks back on T, but orgasms were really hard to achieve and really not too good. Multiples, which I used to be able to get pretty easily, were impossible. But after about 2 1/2 months back on, I'm now able to get multiples again, and they're pretty darned intense... though still not as satisfying. I seem to recall the satisfaction does return in time, though.
So... don't worry. You're young. Just be patient.

I get the 'not so satisfying' thing too... do you suppose its due to the shift in how our bodies become aroused i.e. becomes more of a physical experience rather than mental one... and we just need that time to re-learn what makes our 'new' bodies work best?
Or is this just me? XD
I was only after my 2nd shot, 4 weeks after my first that I noticed bigger changes. My first shot was a half-dose and when that checked out fine they put my onto my full-dose. Is that a similar situation to you?

I started straight on a full dose. My doc didnt even do a blood test, not even mention anything about one. I had a bit of facial hair, especially under my chin before i had even started hormones. Jeez....my legs are pretty hairy already and now that im on T, wonder how thats going to go....need to keep my eyes peeled for other changes.

Some folks don't see changes for days, others for months. All depends on your personal biology, dosing, frequency, etc. Being young, your reproductive system is going to be pretty resilient-- it'll take some time for testosterone to overcome the estrogen and become the dominant hormone in your system.

I would expect your voice to change before anything else. That was the first to go on mine. Then the body hair started and the clit then starting growing. Fat distribution did take its time but like Dennis said the fat on the face comes first. Then I guess muscle mass happens although I wasn't working out at the time now I can definitely see it and feel that I am much stronger than I used to be!

With the fat redistribution, how exaactly does it work for the face? Does it make the face appear more masculine?

those men in the pics, would it ever be possible to get a body like that if you worked out plus the redistribution of the fat or would there still be some shape of the hips?
I cant wait for the facial haor to start coming through. Hopefully my neck will thicken a bit as well coz im so scrawny! lol...i guess patience is definitly needed and that is one of my biggest flaws! *sigh* all in good time, all in good time...keep reminding myself that but then i wake up the next expecting something major to have happened.

One of the guys in Loren Cameron's book Body Alchemy is a professional body builder. He's got a neck like a tree trunk. Loren Cameron himself actually has a body very much like those models. I highly recommend taking a look at that book if you can get hold of a copy. It has pictures and short bios about a dozen or so FtMs, as well as a number of self portraits that he did, and it's really amazing to look through. Unfortunately it appears to have gone out of print, so of course everyone now wants ridiculous amounts of money for used copies. ::) But one of his self portraits is on the front cover, so if you look it up on Amazon, you can at least see that.

Very True Jamie. I have seen a few guys who have six packs and pecs and all. Not many but few.
Answer to your question Josh my neck has got a lot more thicker from T, my adams apple is hidden as I am fat. But it is alot thicker that before T.

Well, let's face it, not many bio guys have a body like that either. ;D It all depends on how much time you're willing to put in at the gym. Lessee... I believe Eryk is our resident gym bunny, no? How are the baby guns coming Eryk? ;)

I would absolutely love to have a six-pack! and really broaden my shoulders. Thats pretty cool about the thickening of the neck, thanks Jay. Ive had to freeze my gym membership for about a year so that when i go back no one would recognise me. I'll just buy some free weights and workout at home. How long does the voice-breaking process take? Mine only seems to break in the afternoons and once or twice throughout the day. Its a bit weird, as if it times to perfection just when ive finished work and not in the classroom. Really cant complain.

... :o
I can't believe you remembered that, Jamie. Lol. Everything's coming along slowly but surely. The 'baby guns' have grown 1 3/8" (relaxed) or 1 5/8" (flexed) over the past 4 months. What have really taken me by surprise are my shoulders. They've grown 3 1/2" in circumference (measured over the largest part of the deltoid) over the past 4 months; I really didn't think that was possible, but I'm also certain I didn't botch my measurements (the monthly full-body photos I am taking show a clear change as well). Some of my button-down shirts that used to fit me perfectly are now quite tight; I can still get them on, but I don't have full range of motion of my arms. Also, for those concerned about the neck: mine has increased in circumference by 1 1/8" since starting T. I'm not doing any exercises that directly target the neck.
I now defer to Chris, who has been on T much longer than I and (judging by his avatar) looks to have the arms to prove it.

Photos edited. There are now little boxes over the unseemly bits. It's still pretty revealing, so beware. Everything is compiled in a 3-page PDF. I'm also including the measurements I've taken over the past 4 months. I don't want to post this to Photobucket, so everyone who wants to see: PM me your e-mail and I'll send it as an attachment. I deleted my face from the photos, but still--please don't re-distribute this. I'm trusting you guys.
