I'm just little bit curious about it.  :-\

I read somewhere on the internet that urine smell change on HRT.

I've been on HRT for 2.5month but my urine still smell just like before(that's what I think)

If anybody know about this please let me know.

My boy parts smell like girl parts now... I'm not effing kidding you. O_O


It kinda messes with me sometimes, but its all good.

I have also noticed a change like Kara-Xen describes. In fact, I began noticing it right after she posted about it (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,45465.0.html) and Miss Bev looked up the comparative anatomy to explain it.

I have not noticed any difference in urine. However, BO from my armpits has completely disappeared on HRT-- but it probably also helps that I'm vegetarian. It would be possible for me to go for a week without showering and no BO any more (not that I would actually do that). Now my nose is far more sensitive to the stink of testosterone in men-- and I really don't like it.

I remember the first time I was on HRT, my urine smell must've shifted pretty dang fast and I didn't notice it really....till I walked into the men's restroom. I about gagged at the smell in there. I'm going to guess that you become more sensitive to the male smell when your body is no longer the one producing it.

Haha, when this happened to me it was a big drama in my household. My overall scent changed and my dog, a great big rotweiler/lab mix smelled me one day and thought that he had to step up and be alpha male...and started trying to boss my older female dog and myelf. We don't think so, Mister.

The next-door lady (a devout catholic who doesn't approve of my transition) has a dog that HATES males.  This dog would rush me with that doggy panic/hate face, snarling visciously and sometimes snapping at me. 

You should have seen the look on her face when, after I'd been on HRT about 9 months, Buster (the dog) trotted over to me, tail wagging, and mooching pets (behaviour reserved for females...)

She (the neighbour lady) still is coolly polite, but she knows the change ain't just on the surface.  As does Buster.

It has been so long since I smelled male urine that I can't remember what it smells like.  I too found that I smell like a girl since I went on HRT for many years. I don't have general body odor too but I also am a vegetarian.   Before I shower every morning I do note that distinctive female scent in my genital region. I'm a lesbian so that is a very nice experience.

My neutered male cat loves to cuddle up on my lap when I watch TV. He is the third cat to prefer my lap over others in the family.  My spouse is post menopause.

When I am in the presence of a sweaty male which is almost never, I do smell them more now and I do not like it.

A woman I know once tested my womanhood with her cat. She said the cat avoided all men and was friendly to women only. So when the cat came and snuggled with me and purred, I guess I showed her. But it was very offensive to be tested like that, because I suspect deep down she does not accept me as a woman and was trying to refute my womanhood.

She got her comeuppance immediately after, when we went to the store and a guy flirted with me but ignored her. She was absolutely mortified.  >:-)

I had a similar experience.  It happened before I was out to my friends but had been on hormones for a while.  I went over to one of my friends house for the first time, and she was really surprised that her cat came and sat with me.  She told me that her cat never socialized with males, let alone sat with them.  She was really surprised.  After I told her what was going on, and that I was on HRT, she brought it up and thought it was really awesome. 

I had a second experience with my own dog.  I live at school, and my dog lives at home with my parents.  I had been on hormones for about 2 months, and hadn't seen my dog since before I started HRT.  When I came home, he didn't recognize me for a few minutes, which was really odd.  He always recognizes me, even when I've been away for longer periods.

I think it's interesting how much animals recognize us by our scent.

I also have noticed the change.  Even my neighbor dog react to differently now.  Before it was rough and tumble, but now he is just a lovable idiot.  Peg says he is that way with all women.  And other dogs who hate men react the same way,  Chemical change, probably.

One customer asked me once if I was on my period, based on the way his dog was reacting.  Nose in crotch thing, as I push the dog away.  :icon_redface:  I did not answer because I was shocked at the question.  None ya would have been the answer, of course.  But it did get me to thinking about this very thing.

Oh yeah it changes...it makes sense considering the massive change in the body.

My body odor and my sense of smell both changed as I transitioned.

In some ways that has been good, but I am like a blood hound now and I gag if I change my granddaughters dirty diapers.

My urine odor seems to have taken on a slight metallic smell.  It is hard to describe but I do notice a subtle difference.

Eat asparagus and that will make your urine smell different! 

I do not notice a change in the smell of my urine.

Guys do smell bad when they sweat.  I guess I smelled that bad at one time!

On a few occasions I have had guys tell me I smell good.  What am I wearing?  I was not wearing any cologne or perfume.  I tell them it is the soap.

As far a dogs I now wag my tail and pet them instead of growl at them.

Yeah, the odour of my urine changed after a couple of months HRT.
Most noticable to me - still - is the smell of my sweat.
I'm still wearing breast prosthetics and sweat behind them - when I get a waft of it each night I'm still struck by the extreme femininity of it.
I'm not being crude here........ it puts me very much in mind of the sweet scent that wafts up from pants of a recently washed young lady.

One thing I have noticed is that I don't sweat like I use to.  I still perspire but not as heavy and I don't have that male stink.  It almost has no smell at all and I can get away with Lady Speed Stick.

How long did it take for the sweating to change?

I would say that I noticed it about 6 months.  I had been doing some heavy lifting at work.  I was also wearing a sweater.  I was sweating and had not used deodorant.  I had to check to make sure that I was not smelling badly.  Yes I was sweating. but it smelt more like my ex use to when she sweat.  Not that funky male smell.

My body seems to react strongly to chemicals. When starting HRT in the first week and barely a few days of starting. The things I noticed where how my senses "felt" more.

Sounds and colors were more "intense" smell and taste too and also touch. But then I noticed that my body odor which has been (thanks to testosterone) quite acid and strong suddenly and abruptly changed into a very musky and almost noticeable one.

Its also funny how I seems to smell down there :p

  I am new to this forum stuff. So let me introduce myself. I'm Mercedes. I have just started taking transfemme now, been on this for approx 3.5 - 4 months so my testosterone is now changing to oestrogen. I'm a m2f TS and yes my urine does smell different. Also this may sound crude. But it tastes different! Not that I drink it on a daily basis but when I did initially smell my own urine I thought mm.... this smells different, that's when I tasted it. Don't think that I'm weird or anything like that as many people do taste their own urine. And before I started taking TF I already knew what my male urine tasted like. And it's also true about the BO under the armpits, very little now. Same with the sweat. I'm not sweating as much under the arms either. Mercedes

Hmm if I work like a horse I really sweat. I do tend to not smell as bad; however all things are not equal.

First my skin now cuts and bruises very easily.  Therefore I try to be more careful.

Second I have digested over 40 pounds of muscle and can not do the work I once did.

Third I hate ruining my nails!

In conclusion I now prefer air conditioning and gloves to lifting concrete blocks.  If it is 90 degrees and humid and I start moving, then my body will try to cool itself with the flow of copious amounts of liquid.

I realize that there are some rather interesting old threads about and that's all good...

But sometimes it's possibly better to start a new thread... Even if it's about the same or a similar subject
