Hey everybody. In case ya don't know - I'm Brianna. You probabaly know me from #chat where I am an OP.
I'll keep this light and breezy. A more detailed autobiography is "Only Fools Mess with Brianna" on Fictionmania.
I come from an home of conservative religious extremists. They raised me to be just like them. When I was 14 I organized a ralley to institute prayer in my public school.
Of course I knew I was TS the whole time, and a lot of my anti-homosexual religious conservative beliefs were a defense from that. In 2002, I found myself working for the Republicans in the Senate in DC. Then, the best thing that ever happened in my entire life happened - I was nearly beaten to death in a brutal mugging 2 weeks after we invaded Iraq. They told me I'd never function fully again.
The experience and subsequent therapy radically changed my belief systems. Now handicapped, I began to understand that not everyone experienced the world as rich, Christian, white, and male. Over time, I became an agnostic hard-core liberal that understood everything I'd believed for my whole life was a lie.
On Feb 14th 2006, I started HRT. It altered my personality even further. I like to think of myself as a reasonably nice person now that accepts people for who they are.
Except for Republicans and Christians. :)

Wow, Brianna! That really stands that old joke on its head - you know the one - that a conservative is a liberal who just got mugged?
All kidding aside, WELCOME! I hope you come down to the forums alot more and let us know what you think.

yea, Brianna is hot!
I love a progressive leftist thinker. I too used to be a very conservative christian activist. Fortunately, I learned the hard lessons of life and realized that not everything can be painted in black and white. There is just too much color in life to be ignored.
You notice I didn't mention the name of either political party? Aren't you proud of me? I wish we didn't have to align ourselves in that fashion.
I hope you spend some time in the forums Brianna. You can express in a couple of posts what it takes all night to do in the chat room!

Brianna,
Hello! It's great to meet you!
My name is Julie. I like you,was raised upper middle class, very republican and evangelical attending church Every Sunday morning, evening and Wednesday night. I am and have been a hardcore far left liberal that has been at the front of many protests here in the rural, white,Christian northwest.
I tend to follow Wicca as a religion but have absolutly no tolerance for pushy Christian's who think it's their way or the highway to hell. The only thing I dislike even more are Republican's. :)
I look forward to conversing with you further Brianna!!! ;)

Am sorry to hear that you were mugged by a bunch of Republican Christians :(
Anyway I'm glad to see that you have refused to let the experience get you down.
One thing that always confuses me thou, which lot are the Republicans and how do you ever tell them apart :)
Rana
And those Christians, :( why can't they learn to turn the other cheek or somthing?? :)

Rana,
It is impossible to read this and come to a logical conclusion that I was mugged by Republican Christians. Actually, DC is 90 percent Democrats - so that would be more statistically likely.

Hi Brianna,
I think Rana was referring to the mugging of your soul that happened to you after the mugging of your body. You would hope that the communities of which you had been a part of could show true compassion.
You might want to hold back on the liberalism. Either extreme will burn your temporal lobe. [tongue in cheek].
I feel you have a lot of courage and I'm glad you felt that you could share your story with us. People like yourself are my idols.

Wow Rebecca what an interesting insight :)
I was going to say "no thats not what I ment at all" . But on reflection, I can remember reading that Arab tales had three levels of meaning, the obvious as stated in the words; a second meaning; and yet a third which was discernable only to adepts. At the time I thought what a load of rubbish - a sort of Islamic gnosticism. However, I can remember Lewis Carrol saying, after there was speculation of the meanings in his poem "Hunt for the Quark" that there are three levels of meaning in things. The obvious, what the writer was saying indirectly, and yet another that arises somehow from the perceptions of society and sort of retrospectively gives that deeper meaning.
So - yes I very much like your take on that part of my post. My subconscious or my id or something realised that Brianna's soul was not so much mugged by her peers, but she was like the traveller in the parable "The Good Samaritan", hurt and injured but ignored by her "class"? and ignored for perfectly acceptable legal reasons that paid scant attention to her situation.
Actually my second rather unworthy meaning was rather why pick on Republicans, and from my standpoint in another country, I cannot see ANY difference worth noting between Republicans & Democrats.
And why pick on Christians? calling oneself a Christian means nothing - it is the actions that are important
Rana
hey Brianna, we do tend to strike sparks of each other - but thats not necessarily a bad thing is it? :)

I am going to say this. I am adult. I have my own moral values and opions. I expect people to respect them, and in turn I will respect them back.
Over the course of my lifetime, I have come to the following conclusions.
1. The Christian Church does more that is evil than good.
2. I will not participate in honoring something I think is evil.
3. The Republican party has gone fascist. In my opinion it would be lunacy to vote for it.
That's my opinion. You don't have to agree with it. I won't try to convince you of it. But do have to respect my right to have that opinion even if you disagree with it strongly - at least you expect equal respect from me.

Brianna, you have every right to your opinions, you have stated them, and you will be judged on what you state.
All I will say:
1. if a person wants another to respect their opinions, - then they should respect the opinions of that other person.
2. Sweeping statements irritate me.
3. US politics, Republicans & Democrats, Tweedledum & Tweedledee.

Hi Brianna,
I know you said the HRT is helping you to feel better. How is it going overall? I like to hear everyone's experiences.
I always wonder about things like; does HRT relieve the weird tension that walking around with a female brain and a testosterone body creates?

Rebecca,
HRT is more amazing than I can describe. It's obvious to me that a female TS brain is shorting out for a lifetime. Estrogen is the oil it needs to function properly.
Your feelings start to change. You cry a lot - feel calmer. Learn new manners of communication. You smile - you discover your true self. In my case - you giggle a lot. You discover what it is like to be softer and weaker.
You have a 1 in 3 chance of becoming obsessed with boys like me.
Your skin gets softer - you develop breasts, which are lovely.
It is just total bliss. I never thought it was possible to feel this happy. :)
bree
ps- Telling me I will be judged is the opposite of respect.
