Title: 5 o'clock shadow... again
Post by: Osiris on June 07, 2009, 03:09:27 PM
Ok this vid is looooong overdue. But I had to get good enough at it to keep it under 10 minutes. Plus I'm a bit self conscious of my girly voice. <_<

The original topic that inspired this vid can be found here- https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,44526.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,44526.0.html)

So for those wondering how I achieve my roguish good looks 8) -

Nice results, although I don't mess with makeup so I won't likely try it.

You could've stopped after doing the outside corners of your eyebrows though. The inner side and the eyeliner started to look kind of fake.

That's odd. I thought the inner part of the eyebrows was the finishing touch.  Your placement of the shadow was very good, Osiris.

In her book "Self-Made Man", Norah Vincent described using some kind of glue and finely chopped-up artificial hair to apply a 5 o'clock shadow. The effect was good enough even up close and personal.

I know people use liquid latex and glitter/sparkles to do some body art in theater. Maybe liquid latex and hair sprinkes? :v

I think Osiris's lines are better than Norah Vincent's. His looked more natural, less Homer Simpson-like.

Thanks for the feedback guys and gals.

I made it a point to show guys how to find the proper line for their shadow because it's easy to mess that up and can look really weird.

SilverFang: The inner eyebrow is tricky. I usually spend more time on it (blending, softening the edge and so forth) but I was on a time crunch so it wasn't perfect. :)

Nice vid. Good work on the lines, looks good.

Eyebrows are important, but often overlooked. The number of FTM's I've seen with female eyebrows boggles the mind - yet it's a dead give away.

Lucky for me, I just stopped plucking and a few weeks later... BAM! Guybrows!  :icon_eyebrow:
