KRXQ's morning crew, The Rob, Arnie and Dawn Show, thought it was knee-slapping funny to advocate child abuse of transgender children during a discussion about a an Omaha family supporting their transgender child and her transition. The hosts refused to apologize for it, and then they learned a tough lesson when 11 major advertisers pulled their contracts from KRXQ because of blogging here at PHB, and your calls.
On Thursday (June 11 at 7:30 AM PST), Trans Youth Family Allies Executive Director Kim Pearson and Blend barista Autumn Sandeen, who was leading the charge on this story (along with HuffPost's blogger Michael Rowe), are going on air, at the invitation of the station, to discuss the issue. GLAAD has been on top of this and helped facilitate (with your help via calls to advertisers and the station) this development. (GLAADBlog):

pulled their contracts from KRXQ because of blogging here at PHB
Sure, two minor and lightly read blogs did this and not the coverage on local news, the Sacremento Bee, the Chron (late to the story as usual, but hey, if they were in the lead, it wouldn't be the Chron) and especially Michael Rowe of Huffington Post who received 1569 comments on his original June 2 article.

I have to agree with that. And, tbh, am a bit dubious about the positive effect of Autumn on the proceedings as well. Given some of her blogs and what and how she "leads the charge" on anything that even begins to sound like it even tangentially could be trans-related I have some grave doubts about her effectiveness as a spokewoman.
But, that's just me. Autumn has done many positive stories through the last two years, but sometimes she seems more than ardent. Downright over-the-top a lot.
Since the original outrage seemed less about "trans" than about "child abuse" (and prolly still is) Kim makes a wonderful representative. My guess would be that Donna Rose, Jamison Green, Meghan Stabler or Becky Allison would have been a whole lot more felicitous choices as trans-folk spokespeople.

Well that's a very old propaganda trick, in order to 'be fair' bring in someone from the other side. In order to win, make sure that person is sure to alienate more people then they convert, or is harsh and strident, or shrill, or aggrandizing. Think Al Shapton here. Or, the way the corporate media can have on an extreme right winger, like say, George Will, who comes across as thoughtful, reasonable person and book some wild eyed, unkempt clown to 'speak for the left.' It's done all the time. There is a reason that you don't see Norm Chompsky or Amy Goodman on TV speaking for the left - they are too reasonable. They might win.
See I dare say that the 'average' listener to this program - in radio land called 'a morning zoo' - was not offend (any more than the rest of it offends them) by this, and now is in a position to resent the interruption of their morning routine in the commute car. How many of them are going to listen to any thoughtful presentation on their Thursday commute vs. how many are going to resent getting some 'PC Crap' thrown in their face? And this is Sacramento we're talking about here, not SF.
If I wanted students to be happy to listen to a lecture on something, I'd cancel the math test for the assembly, if I wanted them to hate it, I'd cancel recess. And this is a very precious time for most people who listen to this drek. It's their own 'special time' in the car, by themselves. They are going to hate it.
And, radio is a lot harder than it looks (yes, that a pun), and its very easy to come off as being harsh, strident, shrill, condescending and all the rest if you don't know what you're doing.
Best of luck, but since I've never listened to that station in the past, I doubt if I'm going to tune in Thursday.
