BEIJING - To change gender in China costs more than money. One must be free of a criminal record and be single if he or she wants to have a sex change, the Ministry of Health said Tuesday in a new regulation.

Hmmm, yes, more than 1000 I should think. Even using conservative statistical numbers of say 1 in 8000 mtfs and 1 in 24,000 ftms on a population of 3 billion (roughly-speaking) one would get approximately a figure of about 187,500 mtfs and about 62,500 ftms were, statistically-speaking, the population 50% each sex.
Yeah, I'd say there "are more than" 1000 transsexuals in China.

Much more reasonable figures than in yesterday's report.
Same paper, different numbers. Hmmmm.

The numbers that the Chinese government reports are the correct numbers. If they are different from the numbers yesterday, it's only because the numbers changed overnight. The numbers from the PRC are always the right numbers. Never doubt.
