A federal court has refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a transgender woman who accuses the Georgia General Assembly of illegally firing her after learning of her gender transition, according to Lambda Legal, a non-profit legal group representing the woman.

The full text of Lambda Legal's press release:

Atlanta, GA, June 26, 2009) -- The United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia today denied the Georgia General Assembly's motion to dismiss Lambda Legal's federal lawsuit on behalf of Vandy Beth Glenn, a transgender woman who was fired from her job as Legislative Editor after she told them she planned to transition from male to female.

Nothing like seeing a state legislature not being unilaterally able to just enforce their prejudices while claiming the victim has no recourse to legal response.

The United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia today denied the Georgia General Assembly's motion to dismiss

It's the State Assembly's first line of defense to seek a dismissal. The same manuver would hold true if I, or anyone, were to find myself the respondent to a civil lawsuit.

The Court not throwing out the suit at the very least suggests that the case has merit, keep in mind I got lazy and didnt bother to do any due diligence b4 posting.
