Is it possible to raise a child outside the gender binary?

A feminist couple in Sweden is attempting to raise their child (who is now two and a half years old) without gender norms. They call the child "Pop," do not use gendered pronouns, and have kept Pop's biological sex a secret.

"We want Pop to grow up more freely and avoid being forced into a specific gender mould from the outset," Pop's mother said. "It's cruel to bring a child into the world with a blue or pink stamp on their forehead."

People never tire of finding ways to mess up children do they?  I'm sure this kid will prove smarter than the parents by bedtime.

Like, you don't think, that somehow, just maybe, there might be a way the kid could figure it out?

That kid's gonna have some social issues unless it's exposed to other children...
And you know the kids will ask, or cause Pop to figure it out for itself, whether it's a boy or a girl.

Peer pressure will always be a part of society. The main point is that the child will be secure in his/her own identity.

Why not ask:  Is it possible to raise a kid outside the laws of gravity?  Society exists, for better or worse, and will at some point - very soon - impact this decision.

Or, for gennee.  How about your parents, say, in Chicago, would have tried to raise you outside the racial binary that exists - at least in Chicago - as a pretty strong deal - would you, at some point, have found out that you are black?
