holy crap. Just woke from a nightmare that my tits had grown back. I was so demoralized. Not only did they grow back, they grew back differently than the originals. Now they had ten times the areola size, and were generally scary looking. Had to run to the mirror first thing to make sure they were okay.
Anybody else have this kind of dream? What could it symbolize you think?

My first night post op I had a really weird dream where the penis had grown back, sorta kinda. It was surreal.

I've had nightmares where my penis pops out of my body!  Fortunately, I've only had two or three of them.  Each time I woke up screaming.  I had to examine myself to make sure that it was just a nightmare.

I think that it has to do with the body map that our brain has.  It takes time for this internal map to match the physical body.  During this "remapping" the brain tries to consolidate the physical with the internal map.  I think these dreams are a part of that.

It's interesting that you mentioned the distortion from your physical breasts, Nero.  I too noticed a distortion (length/width).  It may be that our body map distorts our image and that is what manifests in our nightmare.

It is terrifying, but it shouldn't last too long.  I haven't had one in many months.

I'm almost four months post-op and I'd say I've had maybe half a dozen "it's back!" dreams.  But it's the awake sensations that really freak me out.  I get those all the time.

I think you have even more neurosis than I did at your age.

You probably spent so much time concerned about changing your bod, that your mind hasn't entirely shifted gears. Like you think about something so much that it gets ingrained in your mind when it's time to let it go.

The brain can be a terrible terrible organ. May I suggest you do as I have and have it removed?         :P

Never had a dream like that. When I was younger I had a repetative dream that I was abducted by a UFO and taken somewhere, placed in a machine with only my head exposed and after they released me from the machine I had boobs and no penis. How I hated to wake up.
They must have taken me to Venus.

I used to dream about this a lot before my top surgery. But after I don't think I have had one yet!

I think its just normal, takes the brain time to adjust, but dreams can be so real and frighting, can feel so realistic at the time, few months after my surgery I had dreams (particularly out after a night of clubing with friends)  maybe it was the alcohol, dreamed p--is had grown back, but when I woke up, the relief its only a dream, its not there, just my beautiful pussy, dreams can be terrible.

i had a dream that at my appointment to have my drains removed, brownstein took off the surgical binder and my breasts were still there.  i told him about it and he said it's extremely common and that the majority of people probably have them.

Transition/SRS for me was life-saving and came in the nick of time and everything after was just SO normal and natural it was amazing.

About a year later I had a nightmare that I woke up to find it was all a dream and I was right back there I used to be. I woke up screaming in agony and weeping and scared the heck out of my neighbours! Never had that nightmare again (thank god)!

Can't say I've ever had a dream like that Nero.  But since the topic of one's internal body map came up, I will say that my internal map has always been female, which is why it was so hard for me when I hit puberty, because my body was changing and inside I was screaming "NO NO NO!"

Since having my Orchie last fall, the map has changed a little, but for the most part is the same as always.  However, I have had dreams where I've lost my breasts.  THAT'S SCARY!  :o

I had a dream once where 'it' regrew and I woke up kinda feeling that it was still there until I moved my hand down and reassured myself that it wasn't.  *shudder* Hope that never happens again.  :o

Yes Me too.  Well a weird strange frightening dream where the guy bits poked back out.  Not a nice dream. Scary,  but only once thank goodness

I haven't had any of these dreams yet (as I am not post-op) but all of your accounts reminded me of my recurring nightmares of just growing my hair back!   :laugh:  I had my hair cut short and I felt far more male, if only in presentation, and in my dreams of growing it back I was utterly horrified, looking at myself in the mirror.

No doubt I will be plagued with these other dreams post-op.

Anxiety dreams. For instance once I was on a national team for a sport. It's been about 12 years since I've competed. Yet, once in a while, I have a dream involving going back on the team, gotta practice up, important match that I don't feel ready for etc.

I'll have other anxiety dreams from time to time too - the contact lens that's huge (I'm probably feeling part of my bedding) and cloth-y feeling that has to get put in, the increasingly gutless motorcycle I'm riding far from home and have to get up a hill (I actually had a moped that was kinda like that once) and other assorted stuff like dreams about my hair getting all long and floppy and ugly and trying to cut it myself or having to get it cut.

So it makes sense to me that people would have anxiety dreams involving transitioning. That would match the GOOD dreams I have very occasionally about having a penis and being able to pee in a nice arcing stream.
