Because a nose just sits there. It's a bump with two holes in it. Hands and feet are complex machinery, with lots and lots of bloodwessels, nerves and tendons and whatnot.

Even if it wouldn't be a doctor's nightmare of malpractice threat the shear amount of surgery would be far to much for a body to handle. I think SRS is considered to be the at the limits of what a body can take with current technology. But not only that the bones you have and the way they are shaped are the product of years of evolution. They are highly complicated structures and though we know how to repair we do not yet know how to alter.
Yes, there was an experimental surgery to graft a dead hand to a new body. Yes it worked, sort of. Not only is it still plain to see where the graft was made, but last I heard only partial usage had been gained. But considering that the recipiant was an amputee iany usage was an improvment and step forward. In your case it would be a step backwards and no doctor could in good faith do that.
Maybe you should invest in prosthetics, who knows perhaps in a decade the practice of replacing limbs with cybernetics will be common place and you can get your body reduction surgery. As for now, learn to live with it.

This is a crazy thread!
You can get lipo, butt implants, boob implants, cheek implants, rinoplasty etc but there is a limit to it.
Making hands smaller? I've not heard that one before...as far as I know it's never been done...but who knows?

I want a smaller head. So I went into the garage and placed my head in the vice grip, thightened it up pretty good. Two hours later and my head is no smaller. Plus I have a pounding headache and am now dehydrated as well.
I plan on using the woodchipper/mulcher to shorten my limbs this weekend. Does anyone foresee any difficulties with my planned weekend activities?

This thread is annoying and it's giving me a headache. The OP is obviously a flaming troll. Can we PLEASE lock this senseless thread? I mean seriously, we all know what can and can't be done and this individual thinks it's okay to ask for advice and then deny the advice in favor of pitiful arguments that would be better taken up during a counseling session with a plastic surgeon.

This stuff is really geared for people with growth abnormalities or physical disfigurement. The general public would have a hard time trying to persuade these doctors to shorted their limbs for cosmetic reasons especially as their limbs are pefectely normal. Maybe in 20 years there would be a commercial solution?

I recently saw a documentary on tv about surgery on feet in LA - apparently girls can now have their feet smashed up and reconstructed shorter and slimmer so that they can wear the latest in slinky shoes!
...... discussion with the surgeon was interesting and it's a sure bet that hands are the next step 'cos "everyone knows that if you want to figure a persons age, look at the hands......"

Here, here! I've got to second that notion.
In fact, I've desperately tried to work out a prototype for cloning one of those things if we ever get to the point of being able to grow organs. My plan is to use two cells and separate the X and the Y chromosomes. Take out the Y chromosome from one cell and replace it with the X chromosome from the other cell. That way it would be your cells and the risk of rejection would be minimal. Sounds doable to me.
