hi!
It's summer again and every year there is the same problem: sweat.
Since i have started HRT (February 2007) I'm sweating like a waterfall. even if I'm just walking or standing in the shadow, sweat is running down my back, head, forehead, neck, stomach. So all I can wear are black shirts as you would see BIG sweat stains immediately!
I really feel ashamed, cant wear other clothes, no makeup. but thats not enough! even if its not that hot, my skin is oily. Ok less than before hrt but it really feels ugly, greasy and I need to dry (as good as possible) it quite often
Ok is it because i gained a lot of weight? ~25kg within 1,5 years (i was anorxic for years) I eat a lot of unhealty food? But when I look at others, the are "dry" no sweat etc ... :(
BTW: my doc says my estrogene is in a normal female range, but somehow I dont trust the results! 78 pg/ml (range: 14-60) and Testo: 0,66 ng/ml (range: 2,8-8 ng/ml)
My next appointment will be on monday and although she knows my problem she says "its an average female range"
Any idea?
your, living under the roof sweating kerstin ;)

Since starting HRT I don't sweat very often but I do get awful hot flashes. So bad some times that I have to take a cool shower or I start feeling nauseous and dizzy. Not sure if your situation is related or not. I plan on talking to my doctor about it when even ever I can afford to get back.

hi cami!
when i started hrt with androcur I had hotflashes, but what I'm having now is like being overheated all the time and my body tries to cool down my body unsuccessfully, summer makes ist worse, when it's winter I feel good ;)
so I think its the hormone dosage, although the bloodresults show something diffrent

AHHHHH! Winter! Snow! Noooooo!
I hate winter but I don't love summer as much as I used to either. Especially since the air conditioner in my car stopped working. The heat is hell on my makeup.
But at any rate profuse sweating does not seam normal and I agree that you should have it looked in to. I hope you get it straightened out soon, I can only imagine how uncomfortable that is.

no... winter is great! going skiing, snow! ;) ok in a city usually winter is only grey and awful, but on the mountains! ;)
well, but what else can I do? my hormones seem to be ok, is there anything else that could be checked?
aircondition is quite uncommon in austria, dont have one in my apartment so its VERY hot in summer and never getting cool, and at work my collegues open the window even if its the hottest day outside for "fresh air" AHHHH!!!!
@laura: sometimes I feel how the others look at me, or better stare and are wondering why there is SO much sweat!
perhaps my sweat-behavior (I just call it that way *G) is like having a neverending hotflash!

I did a little googleing and I've seen a lot of reference to post menopausal or post hysterectomy women also having bouts of profuse seating. Most of what I read to stop it involved taking Oestrogen but if you already are then that wouldn't make much sense...
I also found this article (http://www.phobias-help.com/anxiety_sweating_articles/extreme_sweating.html). I don't know if it will help or not but it may give you a few ideas.

thanks for the link! I read about that before but can it be caused by hrt??
I see a direct conection to it, but of course it could be something else! but what?! I never had that bad till summer 08 (first full summer in hrt; in summer 07 I had a totally low (far too low) level of estrogene) I used to be in the sun with a longsleeve shirt, jeans in the hottest summer without having these problems!
I wrote that thread after I came home by bus. I was glad having a showert because i felt so ugly, and i hope that someone else has or had the same problem who can help me now! I want to enjoy the summer :(

I think you should ask the doctor about it. It could be caused by lots of things such as your thyroid is playing up.

agree with Nicky... only doctor can tell for sure and if you are already planning a visit you can just ask her... Hot flashes and sweating is more of menopause/hypogonadism symptom which is followed by high LF and FSH, but since you are on androcur, FSH and LH are blocked but they might be worth checking aside from E and T...
take care :)

I sweat more since I've been on HRT but I've probably also not kept up my fitness regime which also contributes to sweating.

I have noticed the opposite effect. I used to sweat badly, but since HRT I don't sweat. Except for the upper lip, which I solve with Skin Prep (http://wound.smith-nephew.com/uk/Product.asp?NodeId=2062). It is available at any medical supply store.

I sweat a little bit more but not to the extent it sounds like you're talking about. I actually was sweating less to begin with but it got worse when I started anti-depressants and I blamed those seeing as it's listed as a side effect.
