Title: Pre HRT body shaping
Post by: jillblum on July 17, 2009, 10:29:19 AM
Hay girls,
I'm pre HRT but having some face, breast and body fat changes from Finesteride. I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions for losing some of the muscle mass in my upper arms and shoulders. I'm already on a low protien high carb, low fat diet and doing 30 mins of cardio 5 times a week. I have stopped all strength training in my upper body 3 months ago. Any ideas?

Jill

Finesteride is a drug that metabolises the androgen testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It's not a body contouring formula. It's also called proscar and is used by men to inhibit mild forms of hair receeding.

True as that may be, I know my body.  I got the best assortment of side effects. Really ;)

Why low protein and high carb?  Are you trying to gain weight?

I think the problem seems to be that many people who try or want to transition do not seem to do their research properly.

Kristi,
I actually am trying to lose lean muscle and gain some fat. I haven't lost or gained weight. I too thought the diet seemed odd on the surface. So far it seems to be working though. The carbs give you the energy to run. The low protein and low fat prevent muscle hypertrophy. I have attached the source of some of my research. It's one of the better sites I've found for nutrition since I started researching my transition...

Which, for the record (and Ms. Blonde respectfully) began when I used to hide in my sister's bedroom with the yellow pages trying to find plastic surgeons who would perform SRS without telling my parents. I think I was 10 or 11 when I made the first call :)
Point being we are in this together. I don't profess knowledge beyond any area of transition that I haven't experienced first hand. I can be called out and accused of ignorance at any other place in my daily life. I'm all for us treating each other with respect and dignity here at Susan's Place

no it's not.
It's a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, a drug that blocks the converter sites which change T into the more masculinising DHT
