The number of hate crimes being reported between 2004 and 2007, has actually remained relatively steady with the an incremental rise in the number of hate crimes against the LGBT Community. Hate crimes are, however, often under reported. Statistically speaking, it is hard to know what the numbers are until after the reports are out and the crimes tallied. There is a perception that there has been a rise in the number of hate crimes in the United States in the last year as the economic situation declines.
