I have just taken the SAGE test and the COGIATI test and the results shocked me.  The Cogiati test said I was a proable transsexual and the SAGE test said:
Your Raw Score is: 935, which indicates that overall you are Feminine

Your appearance is Feminine

Your brain processes are mostly that of a Female person.

You appear to socialize in a very feminine manner.

You believe you have serious conflicts about your gender identity.

You indicated your were born Male.

ANALYSIS:
Male to Female Transsexual, either post-operative or in transition
NOTES:

Your answers indicate you have altered your physical appearance to look like the opposite sex.
Your Answers indicate your psychological state has likely prevailed since you were quite young.

I am shocked - I thought I was a cross dresser and it seems I am transsexual.  there is no doubt in my mind that I  feel far more female than male and I think I want to be a woman but I don't know that I am ready for surgery - what do i do now?
Who can i talk to ? please help?

First, take 5 minutes to breathe and calm down.
Then, take another 5 minutes and try to understand that a simple online quiz-like test won't tell you what you are. Only you can really know who/what you are.

After that, you can take some time to try and come to understand why the results had such a profound effect on you. Whether they might be correct or not. What it is that "you" want to do.

I personally dont put much stock into those tests...for various reasons.

Personaly, I don't put a lot of stock in those tests. You already know within yourself who you are. No test can tell you. Be honest with yourself and you'll know. At this point I would suggest looking into finding a qualified gender therapist. They can help you to figure out the path you need to follow.

Not all of us go as far as surgery. Some of us aren't even able to live full time. Life has circumctances and they need to be addressed in order for you to decide the correct path and how far down it you travel. Hopefully you can find a balance that you can be happy with. It's different for all of us.

Thanks - you're so rigt  a few minutes deep breath and i am really sure - the tests are right even though I agree they are nonsense.. In this case they are right, I am desperate to be a woman and now i realise i always have been - I am only happy when i am female - i really believe i was supposed to be a woman and making me one is what will really make me happy.  I am suddenly realising what i have been denying for years - i am a girl and that is how i want to be in life - a girl growing into a woman.
Thanks everyone but i really think these tests helped me realise what i had been denying for so long - the idea of being a woman just fulfills me - makes me feel whole

Quizzes and tests are fun, but never will replace a good gender therapist.  Coming out to yourself is the hardest.  And the most freeing.

^ I totally agree...Therapists can help ALOT.  Mine happens to be a post op TS, so she has much more life experiences than most natal or male therapists that have delt with other transgendered clients.  How i figured i was TS was not only my mindset, but that it wasnt the sexual aspects, nor the crossdressing that was the predominant factor, but how i felt as a person.  I feel that if you can take the  sexual and cross dressing out of the equation, and you still have the feelings, emotions and desires as a natural female would, then you are quite possibly a good candidate to be a true TS.  Also in my early sexual past i was never able to perform as a male without thinking of myself as a female with another natural woman when i was "male".  I was always performing as a bi female, even though the woman didnt know, nor did i tell her what i was feeling.  I was in denial mostly because of my upbringing being by two hetro  parents, so i felt that i didnt really have a choice, and with societies "norms"..it for me was hard until my later years to break away from these conservative standards.  I only wish time would have been quicker on my side, as i have lost many good years of youth as a transitioned female, but i am not hardened by it, just saddened.

I agree Michelle.  My therapist is post-op FtM, and he understand so much about how we feel and think.  He is a godsend for me.

I agree with the others.  Don't take these tests seriously.  I haven't bothered with either of these because I know who and what I am.  The other little quizzes that pop up in another forum on this site are just fun to take.  If you have serious questions or doubts, let a therapist work with you.  Hugs.

I think that those tests are useful in that they get you to thinking about who you really are. At least in my situation that was the case. The cogatti cracked open my thinking, presented a possibility that I had never considered before (female tendencies going back years and affecting my life), and started the ball rolling. Now it all seems so obvious.

As far as them being definitive gender tests - eh, not so much.

These on line tests are nonsense. Go and find a rough part of the street and get a proper anylisis of how feminine you are..

The only thing those tests are good for is to get you thinking about gender differences.

This can inspire you to look deeper at yourself and maybe start looking for help. They do not define you though.


The COGIATI even says it was designed to get the psychological community to rethink how they think of gender and testing.

The problem is that many people in these TS forums live their lives in a cyber reality and think a computer generated test means they are female if they have a female end of the specrum result. The reality is to go and get real experiences in real ife situations and put yourself into as many real life sinario's as you can. This will define if you are percieved as female or not. I think on-line tests are damaging and misleading and not related to any form of acuracy or reality.

I wouldn't put much credence in those tests, they come under a lot of criticism. They are much too broad and do not take into account individual personality characteristics. The COGIATI is based on stereotypical sexist preference traits. "women have to like this" "men have to like that". On that premise most of my genetic girlfriends would test as male and they are far from "butch." It is my opinion that these tests are nonsense.

Forget the tests, only a therapist and self reflection will help you figure out what and who you are.

But please do not go find a "rough part of the street and get a proper anylisis of how feminine you are." That could be dangerous, even if you pass completely.

Tests are soooo retarded and fake! They are bogus. I don't trust them further then I could throw a nickel at them!

I agree – a good GT is what you need, not an online quiz!
