Hi All,
This is my first post and you may be surprised to find I am not Transgender, I am actually a married woman {with 3 grown boys, married for 22 years }, happy in her sexuality and could argue that I dont fit into this forum at all , so why on earth am I posting you ask ?.
The reason is I saw a program last night on Sky , the program highlighted the struggles you girls and boys go through every day of your lives and I felt compelled to tell you all how fantastic you all are coping with the struggles and misconseptions that you have every day.
I am a disabled person and have to use a chair ----although society will tell you that those of us who live "outside of the norms " are accepted in society you and I know this is untrue.
You struggle with your sexuality stuck in a body you dont want----I on the other hand am stuck in a body that no longer works and causes people to stare and make cruel remarks so you see we are not that far appart.
Keep going , you will get there please dont bow to biggots that have no idea what a stuggle is, were the only problem that thay may encounter in their lives is ---will the soft furnishings match " ?
I applaud you all your an insparation and if anyone tells you otherwise smile and walk away cos you have to be able to live in a body that you can accsept---as do I XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Luv maggie. xxxxxxxxxxx {sorry my spelling is crap but I couldnt find the spell checker}, and also may I join your community occasionally for a natter ??, I know we can give eachother streangth even though we are not on the same boat we are on the same harbour !

Welcome Maggie! I think you'd be very welcome here. There are a few of us (like me) who are also not transgendered but are partners or spouses of transgendered persons - so being transgendered yourself isn't a qualification for participation!
Thank you for taking the time to sign up and voice your support.

Maggie!
Thank you for joining! We gather here to give each other companionship and support. But it is so very refreshing and so very rare that we get any sort of acknowledgment from anyone outside our community. Thank you so much for even this one post!
You are most certainly a valued friend and confidant.
As we tell others get comfortable and have some tea with us!
Also many of use are ignorant of your situation as well. Feel free to post of your experiences in trying to live life. And having a different perspective on life can be very beneficial.
Thank you again!

Hi Sandy,
My story is a long one really so I will try to make it short,
I was a nurse for 17 years and one day lost the use of my legs, after many tests etc it was found that I have a very rare connective tissue disease [onlu 10,000 in the word have it. The problem was it is genetic so I have had it all my life it just didnt show untill I was 33 {Im 43 now},
Recently I was diagnosed with a brain tumour , we think it may be connected. I have passed on this disease to my 3boys so we really dont know about the future.
All I would say to you all is follow your dreams and be who you want to be as you really dont now what the future holds, I know this first hand.
I was so inspired by the program on TV that I felt if you lot can do what you have to and still smile then so can I, Thank you,
Maggie. x

Welcome Maggie,
Thanks for stopping by and being as understanding as you are. You seem to have quite a sad story of your own so I hope you find us bringing you good feelings too.

Hi Maggie, :icon_wave:
Merry Meet.
Welcome to our little family. Over 2900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.
Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams. Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.
But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another member. :icon_hug:
And be sure to check out
It is unusual to have someone, who is not connected to our community, to join. But you are more than welcome to be here. I hope that the tumor is benign and will not grow anymore than it is, and that it is operable.
Blessed Be.
Janet

Hi Maggie,
it is so refreshing to meet someone who takes the time to understand what we all go through and who is not judgemental but genuinely supportive. The world needs more people like you, that's for sure. You are an inspiration yourself. So glad you joined us!
hugs,
Chloe

Maggie,
How rare it is to find someone who can translate their own problems into someone else's. I don't know if it is an extension of compassion or a sign of brilliance. But I must honestly tell you that I was touched by your introduction and instantly felt a connection.
The great equalizing force for everyone is that life is unfair. We need to help each other, encourage each other, and most importantly love each other. I can see that you not only have learned these things but are obviously qualified to teach them.
Please come back often! We really need your support.

Maggie:
Your story is heart rending and touching. You have learned what many of us sometimes never learn; Love and live in every moment, for that is all that is given us.
Thank you.

Oftentimes I have found myself, trudging along, head hung low, mumbling, "Woe is me"
and then I happen upon an individual who is born differently or challenged with
a disability, who is THRIVING in spite of the adversity that they are faced with
on a daily basis. I have drawn massive amounts of inspiration from the
example which these individuals set, by simply living their lives and
being able to manage a genuine smile or a kind word.
Maggie my dear, you are most welcome.
Mi casa es su casa.

Hi Maggie
I'm a married TG, my wife has known all a long, right from when we started dating. She is now in a wheelchair after a freak accident, and sadly in high dependency care. She has been in the chair for 5 yrs now. Amazing how invisible wheel chair people are. I can push her through streets and shopping malls and no one recognises us. The blindness of the able. I walk by myself and am instantly recognised, in a friendly manner.
Thank you for joining Susan's, I think there is a nice group of people here, who have highs and lows, but support each other through them. I have certainly been helped when the lows were so low. My love to you and yours.
Take care my darling. I'm pretty use to disability conditions. However I live in Australia, so if you are in the USA I may not know the local rules.
If you like pm me.
Luv
Cindy
