Title: Hello from Belgium
Post by: Sophied27 on August 09, 2009, 12:18:32 PM
My name is Sophie and I'm living in Belgium.

Last december I've decided to accept my difference and to break the news to my family.
I have the feeling to be a girl since I had 6 years old. I spend most of my life hiding my 'strange' situation without understanding what it was. Now It's over.

I'm 44, married, 3 kids and I have a good job. I'm ready to loose everything and have a new start, facing my destiny. It's the U-turn, I never had the courage to take it.

Since February, I have a regular meeting with the 'gender clinic' in order to have an HRT.
The diagnostic is positive, and I'm waiting december to begin it.

I don't know where I'm going, but I knows that's way may. I just hope I'm right.

Kiss to all of you

Sophie

Hi Sophie, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 2900 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

welcome, sophie!

when I made the decision to move forward with my transition I also had to decide if I was willing to give up everything I worked for all my life. so I think it' sgood that you took a good, hard look at what this means to you and make a decision. there is a significant others section here that your wife and/or kids may be able to get some support though as well.

Thanks girls for your advices.

I'm glad to see those fast answers. I feel quite lonely, here in Belgium.

very nice, Sophie! I'm glad you've been getting positive feedback among your friends and family with your coming out page. coming out has been a long process for me, and I'm still not out at work or to a handful of friends. I mentioned earlier about being willing to give up everything, but that is just the extreme. more often than not, it's your own fears that are worse than the real thing. :)

Yes Beth, coming-out is not easy. I've done it with my closer family, and my best friends and colleges. The next step is to explain it to my hierarchy, it will not be easy

Really nice picture, Sophie.  You have come to the best part I think, your actual coming out.  You have accept you for you, family and friends now know and the best part is you have huge family here at Susan's.

I have been full time for 11 months now and I can honestly say I love being a woman.  I am freer than I have ever been and I am enjoying my life.  It has been all fun and games, but it has been a great life thus far.

When you go to your hierarchy  ??? , go armed with information.

Again Welcome little sister, :icon_hug:

Thanks a lot Janet.
Being full time will be my next big step and I'm looking forward to do it.

I'm really glad to be with you, now. I think, I will need to be part of your family.

Sophie.
