Hi all, I'm new to this board. I posted an small intro on the Introduction board. But I will expand a little here as I feel this is my "home".
I am a 44 yr. old crossdresser. As with many of you, I started at a young age and have done the purge thing quite a few times (god I wish I could get those wonderful clothes back! :)). I am now to the point in my life that I believe these feelings are here to stay and have learned to incorporate my feminine feelings into everyday actions. I am both male and female in my mind, so I try to reflect that as much as I can in appearence, such as shaping my eyebrows to a less "ugh-me Grog" look...waxing and shaving all my body hair (nothing better feeling than freshly waxed legs!)...
I am still buried deep in the closet, but I like to wear what I can while I am in "male mode".
Which brings me to my subject line...
My favorite perfumes are "! Exlaimation", "Celine Dion's Enchanting", "With Love by Hilary Duff", and for a day smell, "Pure Lightness" by Addias. I have been wearing nothing but women's perfume (techinally most of the above-mentioned are actually eau de toilette) for quite some time in "male mode" and no one has said a word. Which either says that I have horrible taste in perfume and no one is mean enough to say so, or that people just don't care.

I once tried musk :embarrassed:
Thereafter I have not purchased any perfume, but usually use smell from my shampoo or hair conditioner as my perfume. Some people used to say the smell is too strong, and I *smell* like a bitch >:(

I can't wear any fragrances. My SO has a severe allergic reaction to most fragrances. Apparently there is a chemical common to almost all perfumes and colognes that is new and many have this reaction. After exposure, a sensitivity sets in to lots of other scents. My friend can't come over to the house anymore because she has residual cologne on her clothes. I just wanted to tell you all because some people simply won't be able to be in the same room with someone wearing the stuff. It is sad too because I so wanted to experience this part of femininity when I went full time but no go.

Wow Maggie, I'm sorry to hear that. But...the things you do for loved ones ;D. Have you ever tried any oil based perfumes? Just about all of the major players are alcohol based. The ones I'm thinking about come in 1-2 oz. glass vials that you sometimes see in open air/flea markets. They have simple names like Egyptian Musk (another one of my favs), or Rain, etc. They are typically made by individuals and not a perfume house. I've been toying with the idea to make my own perfume too.

I really like "Shi" (she), I think it's french and I got it @ Sam's Club which was a lot less than Dillards.

So many, so many ::)
Right now I love
Tocca "Touch"
Michael Kors "Island Capri"
and recently discovered BVLGARI "BLV Eau de Parfum II" (gotta love those mag ads in Allure and Cosmo)
for just an everyday splash and go I swiped a bottle of "Curve" from my stepdaughter, I know I'm not a teeny bopper but I love the light fresh fragrance of it, as it's a bit of a perk during the day (well when I'm not at work)
but as I said, there are so many ::)

Since I like wearing perfume as much as I do: I have to look at budget and find the Gloria Vanderbilt [about $12 a bottle, in most drugstores] offers the right femme scent that doesn't wear off like some of the cheaper ones.

Dear Muffin, Did you mean Cashmire Mist by Donna Karen? (Eau De Parfum) is a strength of essential oil with a carrying agent. It has less oil than perfume but more than eau de toilette. They are usually priced accordingly because the essential oils is the expensive stuff. I use Cashmire Mist during the day, en drab, love it and no one has said anything. I love Beautiful at night, sometimes sensuous.

From highest concentration to least, the different forms of perfume are:
* Perfume, also called extract or extrait perfume, can include 15-40% perfume concentrates. This is the purest form of scented product and is the most expensive as a result.
* Eau de parfum contains about 7-15% perfume concentrates. This is the most popular and common form of perfume. It provides a long-lasting fragrance and generally doesn't cost as much as extract perfume.
* Eau de toilette has around 1-6% perfume concentrates. This makes for a light scent that doesn't linger as long as the more intense versions. It was originally intended to be a refreshing body splash to help people wake up in the morning.
* Eau de cologne is sometimes used interchangeably with the term eau de toilette. However, the concoction began as the name of a light, fresh fragrance mixed with citrus oils and was made popular by Napoleon. Some perfumers today have a version of this called eau fraiche.
