Title: What I've been up to

In addition to getting ready to take my mother for surgery and starting a new business, I've been doing some renovating. I took my water heater out and discovered this:

So the next project was to rip away the rot (and yes, that is a supporting wall. The beams underneath were rotten too:

This is the almost end result. I did the mudding and priming after this picture, but the walls are not even and never will be. I must move on from the search for perfection and get on with it:

Why are renovations never as simple as they seem?
And on the list of unanswered questions, why did my water heater not fall through the floor?

I wish I could have helped Dennis. I love working on that kind of stuff. I'd never want to do it professionally. I'm very happy you did not lose your water heater to the abyss. That was truly amazing.

Oh no! That was scary, Dennis. I'm glad you have patched it up nicely and neatly! You're a pro on these things, I see. :) Now you have me all paranoid...I wonder what I will find under the refrigerator when I clean under there tomorrow.. >:D maybe a tunnel of some sort! LOL I wouldn't mind if that tunnel leads to a hidden treasure... ;D

That's great that you can do that stuff on your own, Dennis. I wish I knew more about how to fix things around the house. I would have had to call some repair men. Kudos to you, bro!
