I read on another blog a view that transition never stops. I don't believe that is true, I never have, I thought it nonsense and frankly a stupid thing to say the very first time I heard the statement. Perhaps what they should say is you never stop growing and maturing as a person and as a woman. That I certainly believe is true.

For a start, so much of what is possible is variable; at what time in your life transition begins and what it is you need from life and post transition life. The person who said this isn't really important to this essay so I am not going to name names. What I will say however is that they are regarded by the transgender crowd as perfect role models. They hold something of a celebrity status in the GLBT circles. Anyone who has read my views before will know how I feel about TG issues. All I can say is that if you use these two individuals as role models your outcome is not going to be good and very likely life will not turn out the way you would like.

I know who she's referring to, and for that person transition may not ever stop because she is so strongly identified as a transwoman- it would be very difficult for her to go stealth without just disappearing. I have to agree with this author. Some people may like being trans and that's perfectly fine for them if that's what they want. For me transition is a means to an end and I look forward very much to the day I'm passed this temporary condition.

If you're all 'post-transition' and all that, but still blogging about it, are you any less obsessed by it?

to remain silent and indifferent is the greatest sin of all.  when professional transgenders make blanket statements & say things like 'transition is never finished' or 'fully transitioned women are still trans-something', rest assured that there will always be somebody on the other side that will shut them up immediately. professional transgenders should speak for themselves & not for everybody else.

I don't think it's their fault when they are the only ones who are speaking. I think they are speaking for some, and the irony of it is that the kind of deep stealth deal doesn't have anyone to speak up for it, because doing so would blow up the deep stealth deal.

And its not like there is some huge cadre of 'professional transgenders' running around.  There is no professional transgender movement or anything.

Well, Tekla, actually there is, it's called the GLBT...and they very much speak for any and everyone under the proverbial umbrella.  It's really not so much that we are "still" talking about it is we have just "begun" to talk about it.  For years many of us have remained in the background, silently observing a group we don't belong to speak for us as if what they say is indeed fact.  The GLBT fail to understand that many of us not only don't see transgender as anything we've experienced, but don't across the board even support their organization, i.e., the GLBT.
