Title: Unrecognized

So, today I went to my primary care doctor (not my endocrinologist). I see her about every 6 months or so for checkups, etc. Anywho, I haven't seen her in a while.
I go into the office and sign in, she looks right at me, and then gets back to the paperwork she is working on. Her nurse takes me back to get my blood pressure, height, weight, etc. I hear her ask the receptionist if her 1:30 PM came in. The receptionist said that I was in getting my blood pressure, taken. She popped her head in, and said, "Oh my God, I didn't even recognize you. You look so beautiful and different."
That was really awesome.
Even better, later that day I went to see a very good friend of mine who I have seen in a couple months. I walked in to her shop and sat down. She was talking to someone, and after a second she turns around to do something. She walks almost past me, and then stops after doing a double take. "I almost didn't recognize you. I recognized your blue eyes. You look so amazing!"
Just a really amazing morning. Not to brag, but it was so amazing I just had to tell everyone!

Congrats! It's a wonderful feeling that I remember well.
Not sure how you got to this point. In my case, I underwent FFS and the result was so dramatic that even close friends and relatives did not recognize me.

The first experience I had like that was in 1974. I transitioned and had SRS at the same time and was living in a new city an hour's drive from where I grew up. It was just 6 weeks after leaving home that I started a new job and it turned out that a salesman who used to call on my previous employer also called on my new employer. He saw me, thought I looked familiar, and asked around my home town if I had a sister who was living in the city. He didn't put two and two together until then.
(I was outed but my employer and my coworkers were really great about it and everybody respected my right to put the past behind me.)

Congratulation, it should feel great when people tell you that you look great.

This story kinda reminds me of the closet scene in Transamerica, where Bree's sister tells her she still looks like Stanley, but with all the boyjuice squeezed out or something like that. It's my favorite scene :P
Congratulations! It sounds like you are healing really well from the ffs and that it worked out as you hoped?

That's wonderful, Valerie! You must have been floating! :D
All of my doubts have been "can I". Incidents like this say to you: D*** right I can!
Congratulations! You go, girl. :eusa_dance:

Valerie I'd never guess looking at your pic that you were ever a guy.
You gals amaze me, the stuff you go through, as well as how well it works. Congrats all around.

Wow, I'm just green with envy, and can't wait the 9-odd months remaining before my FFS...
