Title: My doctor is just gone?

Well um.. I literally just got a call on my cellphone telling me my doctor is no longer with their practice. I did not keep any contact information of hers for emergencies or outside contact. I did not want to risk her losing her job and so forth. Since they are not supposed to do that really... So I have no way of getting ahold of her again at this time.
However she was the first doctor I have trusted in a long time and helped me to take those first important steps. I had an appointment this upcoming first of October to see her again. I do not know any of the other doctors there just some assistants. She also helped to keep it kinda on the down low as I worked it out with myself.
I'm not sure what to do. Should I reschedule there and meet another doctor? See another practice? or what? This was kinda out of the blue and I had planned to try and make my best appearance this week for her as I really trusted her.

Korlee,
It is so hard when you find a doctor you feel you can trust. So sorry this happened to you. The clinic is not going to give you any contact information for your doctor. There is just no telling what circumstances brought about this sudden departure. Personally I think I would ask around your community there and find someone else who has experience in trans issues. But it may be that one of the other docs at your current clinic could help. Why not call and be honest about it on the phone and see what they say? If they, or a new doctor give you bad vibes, just don't use them. You are the customer. You are paying all of their salaries.
Hang in there and continue to make your best appearance.

Kristi,
I really did trust her alot and she was very friendly, upbeat, and helpful. I really felt that I could trust her with things. I even admitted a few other things I had ignored and got treatments for them.
Ya, they said I would not be told why or be given any information to contact her. They offered to help me reschedule but as I said I do not know any of the other doctors. Also the community? Well I was never a part of it to start with. I was/am a keep to myself kinda person for personal reasons. Also I just moved less then three weeks ago. It is now a 45 minute drive to where I used to live with my family. They've never given me bad vibes... I just really trusted her. She helped me to take the first step and make some choices.

Check with the clinic and see if they have another doctor that is familiar with trans issues. And then keep your appointment, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Janet,
You are the third person today to give me that advice. The advice to reschedule and go from there. I think I will likely end up doing that. I just kinda.. freaked a little because it was sudden and I was very much looking forward to seeing her again. It still bothers me that she is just gone out of the blue so suddenly. =/

There are many reasons for your doctor to move on without warning. I lost a doctor, who retired but I did receive a letter stating the retirement.
I tried to contact my HRT doctor and was told that he was on Family Leave. No note, nothing. I later found out he and his wife adopted the brother of the boy they had just adopted. ;D
Things will turn out OK, I am sure.
Hang in there,Hon.

Janet,
You are probably right and it is probably nothing big. She maybe moved, got married, something changed. I'm just a large worry wort to start with and now so much is on my plate and I don't understand it all nor will I pretend to do so. So I freak a little easier then normal.
I'm going to call them back today and just reschedule. What is the worst that can happen? O.o

The clinic understandably told you that they couldn't give you contact details - but that doesn't stop you writing to her! ;)
- they MUST have a mail forwarding address, so you could simply mail a letter to her and try and salvage something.

That seems weird that they wouldn't give you her contact information. Something doesn't sound right with that. My endo changed to a different practice, and she told me in advance, and the clinic she was at even wrote a letter informing me of her move, and I kept her as my doctor because the move was local.
You'd think that your doctor would've at least told you, or extended the courtesy of a phone call. ???

Well I went to see the new doctor on October first and found out a few things. She left for a smaller practice that is to far out of my way to commute. So that kinda rules it out also the practice no longer has someone who can handle me. They want to refer me to a specialist but their only person who knew anything on it all is no longer there. So I am kinda out on a limb in finding a specialist myself or a new doctor willing to go at a quick pace.
I've never been good at searches on such things. They are pretty sure there is not one in Frederick, MD. So I guess I should search online for Baltimore?

Heya, the same thing happened to me recently and I felt a sudden rush of panic aswell, then I ran a search online using a local TS guide. I'm booked in for next week phew!
It can be helpful to keep in contact with other TS people in your area even if it's only online.. also it does seem strange that america love 'prescribing' specialists so much.. my last GP knew very little about TS issues and was quite interested in learning!
Good luck on finding someone ;)

You are an hour from DC. There is Dr. Brantz and the Whitman-Walker Clinic in DC, both of which are good options. There are several Doctors who do HRT in both DC and Baltimore on top of what I just listed.
