Title: Feminine face - is there any hope of passing pre-t?
Post by: Ryuu on October 03, 2009, 01:32:09 PM

I've read all the passing tips websites I could find, and they don't really say anything about this. I've been told that my face is one of the biggest reasons why I don't pass. (My voice is the other one - high soprano voices ftl) I'm wondering if there's a way to make your face more masculine with makeup or something.
here's a candid of me if that helps:

Get a guy's haircut. Get a guy's hairline even if it means trimming or plucking. The narrow jaw's a problem but if you do jaw clenches it will build the jaw muscle up and eventually the jaw.
Other than that all I can say is get on T.

That's odd, I always thought you had a really masculine face.
Can't help you though, I don't know anything about makeup. Get T when you can.

There's not even any guarantee of passing post-T with a feminine face (that's how it's looking for me anyway :P)

OK in the tinypic photo, lookit the bones on either side of the eyes. See how the face tapers narrower below those down to the chin? My own face, looking in a mirror nice and close like that, it's streight up and down, and if I clench my jaw my face is WIDER than those bones. And I still don't pass all that much. The actor John Goodman is an exaggerated example of this.
You also ought to consider taking some of that stuff gals use to thicken up their lashes, and use it on your eyebrows. Just a little, with that little brush, to pick up the thinner, now-invisible hairs above your eyebrows to make 'em wider. It will take some practice. Plucking your hairs to create a male type hairline will also take practice but these things I suggest can make a big difference.

If your eyebrows were thicker... That would help a lot. They also seem to be shaped; if they were flatter and thicker, it could help to counteract your feminine facial structure.

I don't pluck them or anything if that's what you mean by shaped. I'll try the mascara like Alex suggested.

Oh, I didn't see that Alex suggested that. Yes, it is helpful to try that, but T itself will also make your eyebrows thicken up. Sometimes it is a matter of patience.

DO NOT use mascara use eye liner a brown one!!!!!! I can not stress this enough.. mascara is rubbish to use to thicken your eyebrows up.
I would say do it to thicken your eyebrows.. possibly cut your hair a little shorter into the guy line as Alex said...

Okay. I did try the mascara and it looked pretty weird. Hard to get off my eyebrows too. (Removing makeup is a pain...i thought those days were over...heh)

Yeah, I never thought about how weird mascara might look. I have really dark eyebrows, basically black in color. So mine never looked odd when I attempted to thicken them up that way. But people with a lighter hair color would look bizarre with very dark, glistening eyebrows. ^-^

1) Give it time, bro.
2) Your perception may be skewed. I look at my face sometimes, after almost 5 years on T and go "god I look like a girl" (that's my face to your left in my avatar. Apparently I don't look like a girl at all.) You've seen your face as a female face for more years than you've seen it as a male face. Others who've seen your face for a long time might also take a while to see it as a guy's face. People who have newly met you have a fresh perspective and it likely is a more masculine one than you have.
In any event, masculine or feminine as my face might have been, it is now completely different from what it was.
Sorry, bit of a derail from the original topic. As to that, I don't know. I never tried pre-T. I couldn't get away with it and I knew it. It wasn't just my face, it was my body and my voice as well.

uhh by that picture I honestly think you can pass as about.. 14 years old boy :D
Your skin is really soft, your face is a bit "swollen" not exactly feminine, I am not sure how to explain it.
I think you could pass but as really young.
To make it look a bit older, you need to make the skin look rougher, like testosterone does.
Maybe tan? (especially at the face).
I know people used make up, not sure how, to make fake stubble.
There is also the fake ones that you kind of attach.
Hairline can do but sounds like such a hard work and personally, scary thing, but we come from other worlds I guess :D
Your hair is brown, mascara is usually black, (although comes in many colors), like people said, use eyeliner, not mascara, eyeliner can also draw around the eyebrows and inside, making density seem greater, mascara would just help to color what hairs you have and if they are white/transparent at the end, it makes them seem longer, even though they are not longer, just fully in color.
Perhaps eyeliner can be used to create stubble? It might look silly for you though.
Can I have your high soprano voice please? :D O have hard time reaching the high notes for now :(
But I did see a young boy from that picture initially, how old are you?
Hope any tips helped..
Dennis - you? look like a girl? ha ha!....... HA! :D
That picture makes you look like a kinda serious forest ranger guy ^^ you're doing great!
Edit:
Forgot to say, testosterone does seem to work pretty much for anyone, it might just take more time for some.
I also know what you meant about perception, I had days I thought I look .. and was sometimes surprised!

Thanks Den.
I guess I'm just one of those guys that started off more feminine looking and it will take some time.

Haha. If I could actually pass as a 14 year old boy I would have no problems - My sex is a lot more apparent in person methinks.
And I don't think I could outright give you my voice - it'd have to be a trade. I am in a band and do occasionally sing, so it's kind of a necessity. (Though it would make day of silence so much easier!)

EDIT: Didn't realize it was against the rules to post my age. Can I at least say that I'm a teenager? lol

I did not pass pre-T at all and didn't try. I started passing approx 3 mos on T, and consistently everywhere by 6 mos on T. I'm still amazed at how much more masculine I look now 15 mos on T than I did at 8 mos. Like Dennis said, we see ourselves as feminine-looking, while the world (who didn't know us pre-T) does not.

I think that your eyes and eyebrows are really the only feminine thing babe. Honestly my boyfriend and I just stopped putting any care into our eyebrows and POOF fuzzy brows. As for your eyes, glasses help, thin black frames work... but you look better with dark hair by the way. I have the same issue with my voice but practice makes perfect and if your shy it works even better. You look good though and on T you'll have a really masculine face. Good Luck!

Are you wearing an earing in that picture? I would't wear any jewelry, especially anything shiny. Start working out, may not do much for your face, but it will help in general.

I have the same problem I think. My face is just so femme, I worry that I won't pass even when on T.
What I do to help with the passing anyways:
-Shave my face to get rid of girly peach fuzz.
-Trying to work out my shoulders. (and neck if that's possible? I notice that bioguys have wider necks.)
-I mascara the brows occasionally, but I think it's more trouble than it's worth.
<-- as you can see in my profile picture, I'm definitely in the same boat.

For what it's worth as someone older and going in the other direction, the major differences are certainly hair and eyebrows, but also your glasses.
With slightly longer sideburns, a bit shorter on top and thicker framed glasses, you would look quite a bit different. Dark hair would help too.
Do you have access to Photshop? If so you could have a bit of a play and see what you can come up with.

I totally agree with a lot of these posts. Make up can really do the trick, as well as working out. I'm not even going to attempt T, so this is the boat that I will be in for the rest of my natural life. :D
But yeah, being a handsome yet pretty guy is not a bad thing at all. I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to like more feminine looking men, but yet, they still are very masculine in attitude and such.
Good luck, I bet you're more masculine than you think you are, so don't come down on yourself too hard.
