Title: As halloween is on its way..Ghosts and Spirits..have you seen one?
Post by: rogue on October 17, 2009, 03:35:19 PM
As I've mentioned on here, I'm a fan of Taps the paranoramal research group from America, and I love tuning into Most Haunted for the orbs, and footsteps and presenters who run screaming from unseen presences. My most profound experience was being physically touched on the arm by a spirit, and when I was young something would sit on the end of my bed, and it once wrenched of my bed clothes (that freaked me out!!) ..It would be great to hear your views on things that go bump in the night  ;       )

Things that go bump in the night.

Is your inquiry limited to disembodied spirits?

Do all disincarnates count? Or just the "hanging around 'dead folk"?

I'd really appreciate to hear about any experience you've had, and any opinions you have :      )

I've felt things before, never seen. Unfortunately I have no good stories to tell...

But I shall keep my eye on this thread.

Yes I have seen spirits, been touched, smelled vial things, hear disembodied voices.  Nothing that really would send shivers down your spine.

What would you like to hear about first?  :eusa_think:

The night terrors with accompanying shadowy figures?
The Out of Body Experience?
The spiritual attacks?
The experience with my "Guardian Angel"?
Or
The UFO sightings?

There's a poltergheist in my house. Or rather, that's the common belief of about 80% of everyone who's ever stayed here for more than a week.
She walks around and whistles, animals react to the sound. We've ruled out electricity, plumbing, other people, weather, and whatever else we've thought of.
She likes to move things around and hide them.
My mother's a very organized woman and none of us youngins would dare hide her "things". At one point she washed the can-opener and put it over on the radiator so it'd dry out quickly and so minimize the chances of rust, and it disappeared. The whole house was searched to no avail.
3 years later, after the new can-opener that had been bought to replace the old one had just broken and been tossed in the bin the day before, the old can-opener was found inside a much used microwave.
Other things have made "freaky dis- and/or re-appearances", couple things off the top of my head are;
A small toy cat that I "stole" from my sister and buried in the yard showed up pristine clean ontop of the doorbell box inside the house.
A stack of approx 15 cd's disappeared from on top of the hallway closet and reappeared in the bathtub.
And it just goes on and on...

That's the only dead person in my house.

But we got a basement full of shadowpeople, atleast in the summertime.

Wow that is fascinating, have you looked into the history of your house, do the dissapperences have a pattern, do they correlate with anything you've noticed?
Title: Re: As halloween is on its way..Ghosts and Spirits..have you seen one?
Post by: Miniar on October 17, 2009, 06:19:27 PM
No correlation, no pattern, no nothing.
Nope we haven't looked into history, doesn't matter in the long run.

My working hypothesis is she does it for the attention. Attention = energy.

I went to a Houdini seance on Halloween once.

I knew the guy performing it, we did it for a radio show. We also had some ghost investigators on hand. The seance was faked, it was a show after all.

What we got wasn't expected though. The investigators had spectrometers setup, infrared, temp sensors, cameras, tape recorders...  We picked up a lot of strange stuff. None of which could be explained, believe me we tried. We we were watching the temps fluctuate in certain parts of the room, but they didn't match with movements or air currents.

Do I believe in ghosts? No.
Do I believe in spirits? No.
Do I discount everything? No.

There is a lot out there we simply don't understand. Someday we will.

The night terrors with accompanying shadowy figures and spiritual attacks.

I have had this happen to me since I was very young, with it happening
as recently as a few days ago. I will be awakened by feeling something moving
on my bed, touching my body or breathing on my face. I am paralyzed and can
not make a sound, sometimes I can not open my eyes, other times I can but
whatever is there, is just out of my peripheral vision. A few times what I have
seen is a red or dark colored mistlike humanoid form that will dissolve as I am
able to focus on it. The most terrifying experience along these lines happened
five years ago, I awoke paralyzed, unable to speak as I felt the covers tighten
around me, as if being tucked in. I was laying on my back, staring straight up
into a churning black humanoid shaped cloud. I could only see the upper half
and felt it breathing in my face and I "heard" it laughing, demanding [fellatio].
I felt "something" pressing on my cheek. I freaked, screaming inside, "NO, NO.
LORD HELP ME !!!" I was able to move and I started swinging at the thing but
wasn't able to connect with anything solid. The thing dissipated and I was
able to sit up in bed. This experience screwed my head for a long time.

There are various stories about a person who lived in my apt. He was found dead and bloated in between the front door and the hallway to the bath and bed of a blunt head wound. It is said that he was drunk and hit his head. But non of the wall corners or doors show any sign of trauma.

At various times I hear footsteps and things thought to be secured suddenly knock over.

Even my dog notice. He is rarely bark for anything. But he barks and becomes very protective at the something I cannot see other than a possible mist one time

Why is it that with all these ostensibly powerful testimonies and camera footage (always shot by "believers") and, in that video, people being attacked, plates flying etc. that it is never, ever captured scientifically - and any attempt to do so makes the phenomena become suddenly and strangely quiet.

I mean, why does Casper The Ghost happily interact so physically with the real world when people who believe in ghosts are there but never when there's an attempt empirically verify these interactions?  Why are ghosties and ghoulies so afraid of scientists but will fill nine miles of believers video tapes without hesitation?  Ohh, let me see if I can think of an explanation  *scratches beard* :)

And that mark on the kids head early in the video would have me more concerned than anything else - my first thought was a ghost story variant of munchausen by proxy.

I've heard strange noises in the night, I've put my keys down and found them somewhere else while being sure I didn't put them there, I took a dump one morning to find all the toilet roll had been used and I didn't remember finishing it.  wooOOOOoo spooky, huh? :)

Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone's beliefs with my facetious, if a little sarcastic, humour but (grabs friends and shakes them collectively by the shoulders) come ON people!

I agree the believer can make the ghost
but the ghost does make the believer.

Okay, I must be more honest. Sometimes I feel a hand on my shoulder or hip. Though my dog rarely barks, he is ready to attack the something I cannot see.

My dog is generally friendly to everyone. But for some reason he stands at my bed and growls and barks at something. He attacks something I cannot see while I'm doing dishes.

I have notice some things. But the dog is not influenced by anything. He only keeps a watch on me

The old lady who was the previous owner of my house died while raking leaves in the yard... and I used to own a sofa that I was told someone had committed suicide-by-O.D. on. I've never had any personal interactions with either of their disembodied selves, but I'm pretty sure they now reside (along with my departed cat, Cruiser) in the sink hole on the side of the house that I affectionately refer to as "the abyss".
However, they do occasionally come up from the abyss to steal socks (just individual socks, mind you, never matching pairs) out of my dryer. Cruiser doesn't, but the other two do.

The show I was at, we did have video footage of all that happened, but, what did we capture? Strange air currents that weren't there before the crowd entered, wasn't there after they entered, and only appeared after the show started when no one was moving? It doesn't really prove anything.

I have seen and heard some pretty amazing footage and recordings. I had the chance to go do some ghost hunting even.

Like I said before, I don't really buy the whole ghost and spirit thing.  I just think there is certain phenomenon we can't explain. There is lots of things in this world we can't explain. It doesn't mean it exists, only that we don't have the means to accurately detect or determine it's origins.

It doesn't help that many fake this stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, just stating things from how I have seen it happen. I was there and I'm still am not convinced. I want something significant and definitive.

Oh, I've had all sorts of things happen. Pretty creepy things too, but I'm too lazy to type them all out, so I'll just tell one, and if you want to hear more, tell me. ;)

I have a doppleganger. He looks just like me and acts just like me, and shows up at times when I'm elsewhere but others think I am with them. One true example:

One time, I had picture day at school, so naturally, I had to go and fix my hair. So I told my two guy friends I was going, and I ran off into the bathroom. I was thinking the auditorium was the place the pictures were being taken, so I was planning on going there afterwards. So I ran into the bathroom, and my friends who were following me didn't see this, and continued to follow "me" torwards the auditorium. They talk to me and such, telling me that in fact the pictures were in the forum, and "I" went into the auditorium. I then came out of the bathroom, and looked for my friends, who were yelling "HOW THE **** DID YOU DO THAT?" at me, and me looking totally confused. "YOU JUST WENT INTO THE AUDITORIUM AND CAME OUT THE BATHROOM!"

And that is why to my friends I'm the greatest ninja of all time. This story is all true, I swear it.

I had another incidence with him that involved my sister, but I'll only type it up on request. :3

Yeah, couldn't agree more!  I've no problem with there being stuff we don't yet understand or can't explain, I just rebel at the idea of filling that explanatory gap with the supernatural :)

Indeed - and when, as in the vid Susan posted, a child starts getting what looks like abrasions/bruises on its head and this is claimed to be ghosts, then that really bothers me.  (Naturally the kid is too young to speak and explain).

Oh Finewine

I'm suprised by your negativety. I remember distinctly a recent event when poltergeists went wild on the stock market. All the money went and no one was to blame.

I think there are two reasons for this. The first is related to the phrase, "I'll believe it when I see it." This is actually backwards. Emerging science shows that with human perception, you'll see it when you believe it.

The second reason is along the same lines as a cat walking into a room. Whose lap does it jump into? The person who least likes cats. Who does Casper perform for? The person most likely to respond to the performance, the believer.

In the video, at one point you can see the planet Neptune in the eastern sky.
Is it not obvious that the cop just let his imagination run away with him and what
he actually saw was Neptune reflected off of the cop's car windshield
viewed through sewer gas, ignited by ball lightning?

You know, I'd actually like to see some scientists make a TV show where they investigate it. All of them would have to be skeptics and they'd have to come up with logical explanations for things.

Honestly, I don't believe in anything "unexplainable". Unexplained yes, but unexplainable no.
I think most accounts of hauntings are psychosomatic reactions to the expectations of haunting.
I do consider it possible that the "things" I see in my house may not be what I believe they are, but at this point in time, I still believe they are what I believe they are.
