Title: Life dreams

I'm not talking about the sleeping-at-night kind of dreams or the bored-at-my-desk kind of daydreams. Or even the gender-associated dreams of making things right with our bodies and minds.
What dreams do you have for your life?
My dream is to work from home and make a decent living at it. I'm learning how to index books, that is, write the index that goes in the back of a book. With my laptop and an Internet connection to grab my source PDFs and send my final product, I can work anywhere with good lighting.
Which means my current sub-dream is passing my Unit B exam so that I can continue with the course. (Though my mentor dropped out of her course and is VERY successful . . .)

Go to college and transition successfully. Then do whatever I majored in for a living or become a comic book artist. Comic book artist probably won't happen though, so I'll stick to transitioning and then college when I can. Or while I'm in college. Or I don't know.

Quote from: SilverFang on October 20, 2009, 09:49:03 AMComic book artist isn't impossible, it's a lot more common now than it used to be(more indie labels, more demand, cheap entertainment booms in hard times, comic movie buzz, etc...) but it's so time consuming and demanding, you have to prepare to make it revolve around your life, at least until you've moved up a bit. Although that may be why you think it probably wont happen.

Anyway, as for my dreams... eh, I tend not to plan things out anymore because I'm two years from my last plans and nothing has happened. I've come to realize I may just need a shot of testosterone to muster up the attitude I need. I've been trying for a long time, but trans issues just get in the way. But my dream is still with art and to make a good living with it. Likely? Very. Possible? Absolutely... but it's also a matter of healthy mind and body.

I'm studying for a license to sell insurance. I will be seeking my master's degree in education, creative writing or gender studies.

I want to write. I've always wanted to be a novelist, but it's really hard.
....and my "I know it won't happen" dream is to be a transgender rock star. Up on stage, ripping electric guitar shredding to my left and sexy bass to my right. A competent drummer knowing his place in the background. And me, centre stage in revealing, skin tight leather and spandex, straddling my microphone and hitting the high notes that make the ladies and the boys alike melt and rush me after the show. Bathed in the spotlight, showing the world who I am with a "F*** off and f*** you" attitude to go along with it and getting paid to do it. God I wish it was 1984.
