Title: Blood tests :(
Post by: stephanie_craxford on October 11, 2006, 06:20:17 PM
I phoned my Dr. today to check on my latest blood tests and EKG that were done last week.  It's required by Dr. Brassard and while they both came back ok the only concern my Dr. has is that my hemoglobin level as dropped again.  That's two tests in a row it's done that.  She said there is still no need for concern yet but she is sending me back for another blood test to check B12, Folate, and Ferrium levels.

Hmmmmm... I hope this isn't the start of something bad.  Gill said I shouldn't worry as many women are anemic, and that often it's associated with nutrition.  I hope she's right.

You should ask the doctor if there is anything you can do to help those levels.

Good luck.

Steph, I take a multi vitamin with iron. It seems to help. I also take other vitamins so numerous I couldn't possibly put on this page.

Gill sell Trivita brand suppliments and she wants me to give them a try, but I think I'll wait untill the results of the blood test comes back and then talk it over with my Dr.  But I think you are on the right track.

May it be a harmless anomaly--

Karen

(what would an anomaly that's harmless look like?)

Who knows but we can be certain that it won't look like anything else!  :D

Steph, I think your hemoglobin levels may be a bit low, perhaps, because you may be missing things that you need in your diet which, if I remember correctly, is very, very, low in fats.  Jusy knock in a couple of big beef steaks and you could very well be as good as new!   YUM! ;D

(Just kidding about the steaks!)

I find that blood results can vary wildly depending on our intake of nutrition.  I had a couple of tests where my calcium spiked so high I was looking at being put into the hospital (causes flu symptoms when too high and can lead to other complications).  About a month later it was back down to regular levels.  Even had results come in that pointed to some heavy kidney damage but everything evened out about a year later.

I hope that your blip is just that and nothing more.

Hugs,
