Title: Name/ Gender changes and Intellectual Property?
Post by: DL71 on October 26, 2009, 03:40:03 PM
Does anyone know the legal issues I would have to face with intellectual such as music and websites if I were to change my name (and gender)? I want to retain rights to the things I made of course, but I have a feeling that there is some stupid laws I have to abide by to make sure I hold on to it.

(not law advice)
There shouldn't be any issues with IP rights with a name change as long as you retain legal document linking the old identity with the "corrected" one.

With patents, trademarks and the such, you'll probably have to send a notarized copy of your name change to the appropriate government agency for records update.

edit: gender shouldn't matter a bit for the purpose of retaining copyright.
