This one can be considered a sister topic to my other thread, "Unisex Perfume".  Anybody like one brand over another?  Any that are specifically gender neutral?  I've been using Gillette as a guy.  Women's deodorant has a particular odor to it that is unmistakably women's deodorant, so I'm not sure if that would work on me presenting as an androgyne.

There are heaps of antipersperants that have no scent at all. Maybe you could just use one of those.

I'm happy with Sure (brand), pretty neutral/scentless and is good at keeping me dry.  :angel:

Unscented or a generic drugstore brand might work for you.   I can't tell you what is a good scent for you because  1- my nose is stuffed, 2- no smell-o-vison anyways.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for but, I know several women who use Old Spice and Axe because they like the way it smells.

I don't use regular deodorants because of the aluminum compounds that most of them contain, which has been linked to Alzheimer's disease as well as other health problems. Instead, I just scrub with a little bit of Wintergreen Isopropyl Alcohol applied to a clean cloth. It really doesn't leave a residual scent (the wintergreen), so I'm sure regular Isopropyl Alcohol would probably work just as well.

If I wish to wear a fragrance, I'll just add that later.

You can't really win Kylykahyt, Isopropyl Alcohol is a carcinogen  :P 

You could always go the celebrety route and botox your pits.

Cancer or Alzheimer's?  Choices, choices.

I also avoid aluminum and use Nature's Gate Grapefruit and Wild Ginger. It reminds me of English Leather in a gentle way.

I tend to avoid smellies all together and go with my natural stench. Nobody has complained and it makes you more attactive too (pheromones and all that  ;)).  I don't seem to be particulalry oderous.

In roman times they often used to clean themselves using olive oil - slap it on then scrape it off kind of deal (I think it was called Strigiling). Highclass ladies used to buy the scrapped off leavings from the most famous gladiators and use it as an aphrodesiac, or face cream...mmmm galdiator sweat and oil...

I found a unisex deodorant bar called Ban.  It looks feminine, and smells feminine, but has no clear indication of which gender it's for at all, so I took that to mean either and bought a stick.

I actually use the dove women's deoderant! Men's just don't work for me as far as oder control! I actually even shave my pit's. I use the new dove that came out that help's git rid of under arm hair in a wild rose sent! You can't even really notice the sent at all. It'a fairly soft sent! Oh and it does work for the under arm hair. It has taken awhile I was shaving every other day but now I'm at about every 3 to 4 days!

If you stuck a bouquet of potpourri (or something) in your ass no one would really appreciate that smell, knowing where it came from.  Why would you want to smell like a bathroom?

They really should create a deoderant that smells like aviation fuel for men I reckon. That would be a mans mans smell.

WD-40 has a pleasant scent.

...so does latex paint. :)

There are these Aloe Vera products that people sell from some company called "forever" I think,.. they have a deodorant that's aluminum and alcohol free and doesn't clog the sweat ducts or anything and has a very gender neutral scent,..
and lasts for months on end.
(One person I know claims to buy only two a year.)

So that's one suggestion.. (gonna order some for myself later in the year)

I used to use either baking soda (effective, but a bit rough on the skin) or an unscented product (usually Arm & Hammer deodorant).  Recently I discovered Speed Stick Irish Spring scent.  It smells just like Irish Spring soap, which I've always loved the scent of on the bar, but which always turned sour when it hit my skin.  I don't have that trouble with the deodorant, so now I can enjoy the smell of Irish Spring.  ;D  I think there are a few others that are made to smell like other brands of soap, as well.  Or you might go with something like Secret Vanilla Chai (or something like that) if you don't mind smelling like a coffee shop.

I use Axe : Essence, but that's marketed to men so i guess it doesn't count.

Like others said, if you want something truly neutral some kind of baking soda one would do, like arm and hammer or something. They usually don't have a smell, or it's just a 'fresh' smell, and do well at controlling your sweat.

I have a lot of sniffing to do the next time I go grocery shopping!  Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - except for WD-40 and Latex paint.  I would use gasoline if I was looking for a noxious chemical odor that smells strangely appealing.:)  The "forever" product intrigues me since it is aluminum and alcohol free.  I will be looking up more info on that.  Otherwise, Arm and Hammer has been my choice for many of the products that they offer(like baking soda, toothpaste, and laundry detergent).  Maybe I'll give them a shot for something scent neutral.

I identify as masculine, but many 'MANLY MAN' scented things just smell too headache-y to me, and don't mix well with the perfumes I wear. And the names, good grief. Things like "EXTREME!" and "TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR!"- why would I want to put 'EXTREME torrential downpours' in my pits?

Anyway, I grew up avoiding Axe like the plague because I associated it with obsessive Man Men and stinky badness. But the last time I went on a sniff fest, I discovered that the 'AxeDry' stick deodorant (NOT that spray cologne stuff) in Dark Temptation actually has a kinda chocolatey smell, despite being a men's scent. If it were just a tad sweeter, just a tad... It'd be good to go. As it is, I still get slightly headache-y from using it.

If you can find a patchouli deodorant, that's pretty earthy and gender neutral. But patchouli tends to be a love/hate thing, so dunno if you're into it. You can probably find one like that easily in the natural section.

Other than that, I usually use 'Pure Sport' from Old Spice. It has a clean/more masculine smell, but isn't overly cologne-y/aftershave-y like some of their other scents. It's fresh, doesn't raise questions or exude a powerful stench.

Tom's of Maine is marketed without gender distinctions.

There are a couple real differences between men's and women's antiperspirants/deodorants. Men's tend to sting if you've shaved. Women's probably aren't as powerful (though I haven't really noticed that myself). But something to keep in mind, depending on your situation.

The scent is definitely different, of course, but I think it's mostly the person wearing it that notices, not other people. Deodorant isn't perfume.

I tried some of my daughter's Australis 'Melon Kisses', smells like Midori! I don't know whether it would be available outside of Australia and NZ however.
As for the Aluminium, don't worry about Alzheimer's, I work in Pathology, and  apparently newer research shows that it looks like copper is more of a culprit, and you wouldn't have any effect from an underarm deodorant anyway.

I use michum. But it's the version for women, which is formulated not to sting and irritate my skin after I shave, doesn't leave much residue on clothes, and certainly has a feminine scent.

Precisely.  ;D Strong smells just irritate me, I hate walking into a room where someone has just sprayed some strong stuff around, it always gets onto your tongue somehow.  :(

There are also the days where I just plain forget to wear it. (For explanation as to why I would forget something like that, you should see me in the mornings...) No complaints so far, though I often get a bit paranoid and wish I hadn't forgotten!  :D And if I'm just staying in, I don't bother either. I get eczema from the crook of my elbows going up to my back on my right arm, so I'm really careful about what I put on my skin.

Thank you all for a humorous and interesting look at deodorants. (I use unscented, hypo-allergenic Liquid Rock by Kiss My Face brand. I am around people a lot and some are allergic to scents.

This! I love this stuff. I use it a lot. (My brother has some that he never uses, so he lets me use it.)

I also use Lady Speed Stick Valencia Mist. Which looks very feminine, but the smell is actually fairly androgynous. Though mostly the reason I use that is because my mom (who I'm still financially dependant upon) refuses to get me deodorant labeled as "men's". So it's more of our compromise solution than anything. I really prefer the irish Spring stuff. And a few of the other deodorants my brother has.

Why doesn't someone make a deodorant for males and females called 'every body'?

I'm an Axe Phoenix fan myself.  I've got an aluminum allergy, so I use the "deodorant" stuff without it.  I've found that the natural stuff just doesn't last long enough.  I've never had anyone notice I smelled odd wearing it - though as un-feminine as my physically female body acts, maybe they expect it - and a guy friend wears it and doesn't smell girly, either.  But I've gotten him to switch to the Dark Temptation kind anyhow, because it just seems weird using the same scent as him!  I would definitely call this the closest to an "Every Body" deodorant I've ever found.

I remember borrowing some Gillette from a guy once when I forgot my own and not being overwhelmed by "men's deodorant" smell, but I feel real weird in the deodorant aisle not looking much like a guy while actually sniffing various kinds of men's deodorants - I can never tell if people are going to think I'm just seriously butch, or an incredible control freak that I won't let a guy I'm with pick his own deodorant!

Use what you want to use.  I present as male at work but still use a feminine deoderant.   If anyone asks I just say it is a new fragrance.   Perfume is harder to explain though!
