Title: Is Your Politician Gay?
Post by: Julie Marie on October 30, 2009, 06:04:36 PM
There's a blog that has been outing gay politicians who are anti-gay.  It's called Blogactive (http://www.blogactive.com/).  There is a documentary on HBO about the blog and it's owner and, of course, about many of the gay right wing politicians who Blogactive (http://www.blogactive.com/) has outed.

What I found most amazing is all the extents these people go to in order not to be gay or get caught being gay.  Some of the politicians Blogactive (http://www.blogactive.com/) has outed said on film it was the best thing that happened to them.  From there they stopped supporting anti-gay measures, which was the hope of the Blogactive (http://www.blogactive.com/) owner.

Sexual preference should have nothing to do with politics. There should not be special government perks for marriage a religious practice. Anyone can make contracts between each other.

A former congressman from a neighboring district is gay.

Foley, sexting teen pages after pushing an online predator bill wasnt the wisest idea!!!

The Dem who beat him in 2006 was Mahoney. This nominee for husband of the year had numerous affairs, after running on a family values platform.

In 2008 Rooney, of Pittsburgh Steelers and Palm Beach Kennel club family/money won the seat. One of I think 3 pickups that the GOP made against Dems in the '08 election.

I think the District is FL-23, but I'm not sure.

Larry Craig's consulting firm recently got a serious contract to lobby for a federal prison, but I think the best moment of the year was Barney Frank's reaction to the nazi accusation.

Foley represented the 16th district of the state of Florida.

Sexual orientation is a private issue for politicians too.

Agreed but, when they publicly campaign against gay rights and work to pass anti-gay legislation or vote against gay rights or appoint anti-gay justices as Crist did in Florida, they deserve to be outed.

I have a better idea. Let us do away with all laws governing sexuality. Then we would not have to worry about laws protecting sex.

Crist's wife would be the most shocked by that one!!!
Though he was rumored to be "in the closet" for a looooonnngg time. Keep in mind he was elected to the Governership, with Rome as his fiancee, as a Republican. Second highest favorable rating of all Gov's in the US.

Ah, 2nd behind "she who must not be named."

The mayor of Portland, OR is openly gay, and there is a petition going around to recall him.  But it is because of improprieties during the campaign.  Seems he had an affair with a gentlemen and then lied about it.  But I really think it just  means to get rid of a gay politician.

If you watched the documentary "Outrage" there are two people who give some pretty detailed information about Crist having gay relations.  The woman he was engaged to just before one of his elections broke up with him after he won.  (That in itself is very strange!)  She was later quoted as saying, "I can't talk right now but come back in ten years and I'll tell you a story."  Two men who had sex with Crist left the state during the last election campaign and came back only after he won.

Just because he is Republican and married doesn't mean he's straight.  Look at Jim McGreevy, former Gov of NJ, same thing, Republican and married (not anymore).  He even fooled his wife.  And when he commented on Crist he pointed out how Crist is doing all the same things he did for years.
