Title: why does my voice sometimes not work?

i used to change my voice, by raising the pitch, and lowering it to sound natural, but i really don't need to do that, and it's been more trouble than it was worth for me, because i would have struggles with it. sometimes it wouldn't come out, and it would come out like a whisper, or it wouldn't come out at all, but today, for the sake of it, i wanted to see how perfectly female i could sound, and my voice came out perfectly. i don't know why i have had trouble before. it's like somedays, they work so perfectly, and other days so so, and other days not at all.

I notice that singing in my female voice helps allot. It doesn't matter if I'm a good singer or not
The point is to exercise the voice until it becomes a natural part of you
The less you have to think about it the better it becomes

Yeah singing helps a lot to strengthen those areas, something that varies in pitch a lot. It helps to have someone give you honest feedback too. A friend listened to mine and praised the part I was trying to train away, and criticized what I was trying to keep. Her advice has really ended up being priceless.

This was based on looks, mannerisms and voice.
He gave me a 3.5 out of 5. He then said his decision was bases on a 1-10 scale and that he'd given me a 7 and split it in half for my survey :icon_chick:

lol, no kidding. It's amazing how freaking hard it is isn't it, And how irritating it is when people not in the know just assume it's the hormones doing all the work. If only.

I talk *a lot* for my job.... I had to talk almost two and a half hours straight yesterday and I seriously got a sore throat from it. And today didn't help its recovery. And I have a long day tomorrow. *sigh*
For singing classes, you warm up before singing... I've been trying to remind myself to warm up early in the day. I always sound like crap at school and by afternoon when i work or go run errands I sound fine. At work I sound bleh at the start of a shift, then pick up after a little bit.
I also find that I talk much more female when I'm around people who don't know me. If I'm around family or friends it's really hard. Around perfect strangers, my voice sings.

That whole area is so finicky really. Humidity, moisture in the throat itself, time of day, amount of time already spent talking throughout the day. . .All of these I've found can affect how easily my voice comes to me. Oh and mood; sometimes when I'm feeling very down it's hard to get it going.
But practice practice practice will overcome it all eventually.
I've had an odd phenomenon happen lately, though. Whenever I use my female voice at length, as in for over 10 minutes (not non-stop), I start to feel a lump in my throat, like a piece of food coming up or not swallowed correctly. With enough voice usage throughout the day, this sensation can carry over into the next day, and when it does I find I'm able to speak at my current level of progression with little to no warm-up.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Record yourself. It doesn't have to any fancy setup Literaly any recording device will do fine. It will give you the closest perspective of what others hear. And singing is exellent, especially if you have any kind of musical instrument to guage & push up your baseline pitch. Men speak in monotone & use volume to express, women use pitch to express. Loudness in a female voice has been my biggest challenge. Try & use your diaphram to acheive a breathy quallity to you voice & to avoid overworking your vocal chords, this where singing really pays off.
