Title: Can a gurl fall in love with torque, & still be a gurl?
Post by: Bellaon7 on November 08, 2009, 12:09:39 AM
I remeber watching the original fast & furious movie & felt total dissapointment. I actually thought it was gonna be a Muscle car movie. Don't get me wrong, I respect the wonders of modern tech., but the only line that touched me was when Vin said "it had so much torque, the whole chasis twisted when he took off".

Hell yes she can.  My GF is into big trucks, 18 wheeler type.  And I love the Muscle Cars.  Real muscle cars.  Not those toys.

I'm not so sure about the cars... ::)

..but I still think of getting a big bike... ;)

....maybe it's the thought of all that raw power between my legs... :o

Slightly off topic, but I always liked the somewhat "Evil" look of this custom bike...

....now if I can just get my leathers to fit again... ::)

Wow, that is insane! I wonder how many towns in Utah you could make it through before being arrested for lewd conduct?

Not so much about torque, as I just love the styling on older cars (and a select few newer ones).

I once rounded a bend in the eastern Oregon high desert in a 1973 Camaro at 120mph and saw a road full of sheep. I've had a lot of rushes since then, but nothing has compared to that. I'm pretty sure I used some rather unladylike language and would rather not ever feel that way again lol  >:-)

Many years ago I had a friend that had a '73 Dodge Charger. And we went for a ride out on the freeway.  I looked at the dash board and the was a small black panel and a small button on the dash, under it it said 'Warp Drive'.

"what's that".   I asked.
"Push it".  He said ,with a slight smirk on his face.
So I did, BIG MISTAKE.  The black panel lite up and begin to count down from 6 to 0.  When it hit Zero, I was slammed back into my seat.  The car jump and the world began to go by at a rapid rate.

I looked over and the black panel now had dots that went from the corners to the center. Blip, blip, blip.  I glanced at the speedometer and it was pegged over 120 MPH.  About 15 minutes later the needle move, finally.  We finally were able to get off the freeway.

"Pull this Damn thing over, NOW". I said.  And he did.  I jumped out and asked to see the engine.  But it looked normal, all except a small cylinder at the back.

"What does this thing have in it". I asked.  He laughed and took me to the trunk.  Just as I suspected there were the cylinders of nitros-oxide. He saw the puzzled look on my face.

"The intake manifold is plumbed on the inside, so the injector don't show". He smiled,
"You're a prick. You know that don't you?"  I said as PO'd as I could.

He just laughed and we went back home, at wrap drive. Of course.  It was fun that time.

The speed-o-meter only went to eighty, HELL the tires weren't even rated
for over seventy but with six hundred ungoverned diesel horses, two thousand
foot pounds of torque, double overdrive transmission and four hundred miles
of Nevada desert stretching out before me.....what else could I do?

Twenty-one hundred on the tac = one hundred and thirty-five miles per hour.

I get you gurl, it's not about the swerve, it's about curves!

Oh, I like horsepower... Don't get me wrong.
It's just that I like to drive my toys, A LOT, and HARD. And 12mpg or less, doesn't cut it.
Small lightweight cars work best as you can still get decent mileage and performance.

Old roadsters and pickups work well for that. Stick 200hp in an 1800 pound car or pickup and watch it go.

When I was a kid(yes they had cars back then too!), 4 of us were high on mescaline(& a laundry list of others things that may or may not be appropriate to mention here so I won't take any unneccissarry chances here) got clocked doing 137 in a 25mph zone in a souped up Javaline. The driver(no, he didn't get arrested, oh...those were the daze...) got at least 4(no more than 6, maybe) tickets for every damn thing the cop could think of & threw them out the window 1 by 1 going down the highway. Then out of nowhere we roll up on a heard of elk(this was in MT) & he managed to slow down in time but we we're totally freaked. We get going again around a sharp bend & there was the front of the elk heard crossing down the other side! (Thank God we had some JD left! )
