Title: What's the best way to take care of white clothing?

My biggest problem is stains from deoderants. I've learned that it's actually the deoderants & not the sweat that causes stains. I've tried presoaking in vinegear & stain sticks, as well as totally breaking down fabrics with bleach.

I know it may sound like a TV add, but try OxyClean. You may need to soak them for a few hours, depending on the stain, but I've had decade-plus old stains in white clothing come out with OxyClean. Stains that bleach wouldn't even touch. I've had success with both the spray and the powder. The powder works best for long soaking though.
It's one of those TV infomercial products that actually works!

Soak in peroxide. That is the idea behind oxyclean anyway.

:eusa_think: Hang the articles of clothing on only wooden hangers and
don't wear them unless you never plan to leave your sterile airlock. :icon_chick:

There is a product called "LA's Totally Awesome (http://www.lastotallyawesome.com)"*, and I now understand why it is called that. This stuff is exactly that. Awesome
And the strangest thing is I get at a Dollar Store for $1.00. I have a grey top I really like, but I got a couple of coffee stains on it. It has been through the wash a couple of times. Prewash, Stain releases and presoaked. Then thru the dryer. I figured it was set in. But I remember the 'Awesome', that my ex swears by. So I tried it on this stain and it was gone in the next wash.
And it works for just about anything. They make several products, that are just as good.
You might find it in a "As seen on TV" store.

Don't give 'em to Miniar, not even to ask him to hold onto 'em for 2 seconds while you change shoes or whatever, they'll be gray by the time you get 'em.... :P

My strategy is to wear my colored clothing. That way my whites always stay nice.

I leave the whites in the closet and they stay whiter than white. White and me don't mix well together. I'm a black/blue person.

Very hot water, lots of soap and an itty bit of bleach always keeps my whites nice. And I'm a clothes nazi when it comes to keeping them looking good/new.

I find the best way to keep my whites white is to buy new whites. But most of my whites are socks and tank tops

Hahaha, that is probably the best idea ever. Plus, coloured clothing does a nice job of hiding any stains. Or even better, give up all your worldly white clothing items save for socks, as no one ever sees them in shoes.

I run my white cottons through a cold wash with shampoo ever now and then, probably every fourth or fifth wash.

Air drying your laundry keeps it nicer anyway, but this is especially true of whites, in my experience. Treat them for stains (vinegar or a baking soda paste [but never both at once, lol] peroxide, oxygen bleach [not chlorine bleach, that stuff eats fabric]), wash, and line-dry in the sun. The sun will help keep your whites white.
The trick I use, that works wonders, is washing soda. Looks like baking soda, made by arm-and hammer, but don't try baking cupcakes with it. Boil your whites in a pot on the stove, wring 'em out when they cool enough to handle, and line dry them. Pearly white. I use it for my binder and undershirts, which get deodorant stains on them alot recently.
You can also take a trick from the laundry detergent manufacturers and use a teensy amount of blue dye in your whites load, to make them look bright (that's how 'optical brighteners' work) but try this at your own risk. I only mention it for educational purpose.
