Title: I cannot maintain a conversation

I am not sure anyone is like me.... but I seriously cannot maintain a conversation with people unless it's like through the internet or something. It's like I cannot get the thought across as if my mind is blocking what to really say.
Or maybe my conversations are just dull, but I don't know. Especially with guys... but girls too.

Got the same problem from chronic fatigue/exhaustion. Yay! Go Fibromyalgia!
Seriously though, if you have a hard time keeping up with a conversation on something you're interested in, then mention it to your doc...

I find that most people are dull sheep that sleepwalk through life while thinking they are living it to the fullest. I smile, nod, and maybe say a few words when it seems appropriate (I often mis-judge that part). Needless to say I stink at small talk but it is really better that way.
IE I recently hung out with some friends who had a couple over I had met before and conversed with briefly. They are smart, nice, and strive to learn more. Good people. At the end of the night they actually told me it was nice knowing that I could talk for more than a few words. LOL

I am the same way. Sometimes I feel that what I have to say isn't being taken as important. And that was way before I transitioned.
And other times I was don't feel that I have much in common with others. And that is a hold over from the past. I never would talk much because I did not want to let my secret out of the bag.

It may not just be you but me as well. I hate to be cynical but a lot of people out there are stupid so if you are trying to have a conversation with them, beyond a few words, they have lost comprehension. I have found myself that even trying to make the most basic of points with people causes them to lose interest in seconds, unable to focus on what I am saying, and showing signs of disinterest. Sometimes someone will ask me a question and the moment I try to answer it they are fiddling with a cell phone, an i-Pod, or something else and I have to literally say, "Are you interested in what I am saying or not?...Then please put the phone away while I am talking."
I think it is part of our culture at least if you are in the U.S. It is rare to find intelligent prolonged conversation with anyone. Beyond the lastest junk on television, people don't have anything to add to a conversation. Good luck.
