Title: do you respond to a thread in the hope someone will respond to you?
Post by: YellowDaisy on December 06, 2009, 01:10:42 PM
i do that alot actually. usually when i post in someone elses thread, i have the hope that someone is going to respond to my post, and say that i gave a good answer or something like that. that's most of the reason why i respond to people threads.

Sometimes I like to try and poke people into realizing things without noticing I was poking them.

Sometimes it's just to visit and try to meet new friends, I've got a friends list with people on it with whom I've talked very little trans stuff but lots of cookin or animals.

Sometimes we just need that validation, yes, and that's why it's kind of important to tell people what you're thinking because they can't read our minds, especially through miles and miles of wire.

This is a nice thread  :)

I usually will look into a thread that catches my interest.  And I respond if I feel I can contribute to the thread, or if I have a definite opinion on the subject.
If the subject is controversial I will try to stay out of it to watch it.  :police:    But usually someone will say something that I have to respond to.

Hugs and Love

Oh I try to read everything, at least briefly. If it's stupid or just horribly written I'll move on, but the idea of this thing we're doing here is to be a support resource and part of that means being heard. I do admit there's certain people who I will read stuff from first if I'm pressed for time, but yeah I'll get to everything eventually.

I plant seeds of thought I do not care if anyone responds or not.  I rather that it makes them think not write.

I'm the opposite, I make threads to have people respond to me, and I am thread hog (in this forum I am not so much, but in others I just make threads, and I'm not doing it to spam but more because I feel like I want to have a direct communication).

I respond in threads though because I want to contribute myself into it, and if it's interesting. Some threads don't interest me, or I don't have enough knowledge to do any value for it, so I'll just read it.

But I just love creating threads. If I am on the computer I cannot go without making a thread in at least one of my favorite forums (I participate in about 3 forums on and off at any given moment, sometimes I'll just leave from a forum since I gain everything I need from it or it is just plain nonactive).

I always worry that somehow someone will take offense to something I've said, or think "That's a stupid post".
I read nearly everything that catches my eye, but only respond to a few for fear of inconveniencing someone. That's pretty much how I operate IRL too...  :icon_redface:

Depends. Sometimes I'll say something and not care what the responses are so I never check up on it.

Sometimes I want to see what people have to say in response.

At first I envisioned this as a medium for pseudo conversation.
Now, I realize that it is actually more like a bridge abutment for
random intellectual graphiti artists and group think territorial tagging.
While I still post when I feel I can help someone or I need support,
mostly I use this as a "public journal" of sorts which I review
on occasion. It helps me to reflect on where I have been
which helps me to plot how to proceed from here.

I think like most Mods I read most posts. I don't respond to the ones of no interest. But this is a support site and many times someone saying Hello gets me through the Day or the Night. So I try and do the same. In doing that I have had the wonderful pleasure of meeting people whom I count as my dearest friends. They are the ones who have brought me back from despair, cried with me. Hugged me. I love them in a very loving way.  And no Heather rose that doesn't mean I'll buy you a new truck (or is it a tractor over yonder ocean).

Hugs to All.
Nice post you should feel good about it.

Cindy

That's alright Cindy, I wrote to Santa and told him if
he had thought that I have been a bad girl this year,
if he were to bring me a gold pinstriped, emerald green, W-900 Kenworth,
I would personally show him just how BAD I can be.

Truck, road-tractor, tractor-trailer, road train, lorry.
Manure by any other name, is still as fragrant.

a teaching from a zen book:

Quote
One evening, after a Dharma talk at the Cambridge Zen Center, a student asked Seung Sahn Soen-sa, "What is love?"

Soen-sa said, "I ask you: what is love?"

The student said, "I don't know."

Soen-sa said, "Now you ask me."

"What is love?"

"This is love."

The student was silent.

Soen-sa said, "You ask me: I ask you. This is love."

The student said, "I'm thinking about love between a man and a woman."

Soen-sa said, "You only understand one way. You must understand two ways."

My version of this story is:

Quote
I post it. You reply it. That is love.

I sometimes don't respond to a thread in order to avoid possibly outing myself on something I'm not ready to talk about :p
