After being detained for 10 days on supposed drug-related charges, Paata Sabelashvili, the chairman of Georgia's first and only LGBT organization, has been released.
Paata Sabelashvili was arrested December 15th during a raid on the Inclusive Foundation's office in Tbilisi.
The police were not uniformed and did not show up any official papers when they entered the premises. The women's group was holding a meeting when the police arrived. All their private cell phones were confiscated and the women were not allowed to contact their families. The police called them perverted, sick and satanists and threatened to distribute photographs of them and reveal their sexual orientation publicly, and one of the officers threatened murder. The organization's employees were persecuted after the attack by officers in uniform.

That's Georgia as in the Former Soviet Union Georgia, not the Southern, Georgia on My Mind Georgia, with Ray Charles and Savanna.
